Mika Hedman
Mika Hedman (born 14 June 1965) is a Finnish former professional tennis player. Career The son of Davis Cup player Heikki Hedman competed on the professional tour in the 1980s. He himself represented the Finland Davis Cup team on one occasion, against Cyprus in 1987. In front of a home crowd in Helsinki, he partnered with Olli Rahnasto in the doubles rubber to defeat their Cypriot opponents in straight sets. Hedman had a career high singles ranking of 415 and reached the final qualifying round at the 1984 Australian Open. In doubles he was ranked as high as 189 in the world, with two Grand Prix main draw appearance in 1986, at Hilversum and Kitzbühel. The Dutch Open Tennis Amersfoort (or Dutch Open) originally known as the Netherlands International Championships and Netherland Championships was a tennis tournament played on outdoor clay court and held in three different locations in The Netherlands between 1898 and 2008. Des Tyson
Desmond Tyson (born 26 September 1965) is a former professional tennis player from Australia. Biography A right-handed player, Tyson comes from the New South Wales town of Griffith. He partnered with Jamie Harty to win the boys' doubles title at the 1983 Australian Open. This was the only Grand Slam junior doubles title that the pairing of Mark Kratzmann and Simon Youl didn't win in 1983. Tyson played mainly in doubles events on the professional tour. His best result in singles at Grand Prix level was an upset win over then world number 31 and top seed Paolo Canè at Saint-Vincent in 1986. This was the only time he progressed past the first round of a Grand Prix tournament, but he also had two main draw appearances in Grand Slams, at both the Australian Open and Wimbledon Championships in 1987. Craig Campbell (tennis)
Craig Campbell (born 18 July 1963) is a former professional tennis player from South Africa. Career Campbell, who played collegiate tennis for the University of Miami, made the round of 16 at the 1984 Japan Open Tennis Championships, defeating world number 63 Nduka Odizor en route. Partnering Joey Rive, Campbell was a losing doubles finalist at the Swedish Open in 1986. The following year, he reached the singles quarter-finals in the Tel Aviv Open. He was only able to progress past the first round of a Grand Slam tournament once, which was at the 1990 French Open, in the mixed doubles with Mary Pierce. His two appearances in the main singles draw ended in disappointment. Veli Paloheimo (born 13 December 1967) is a former professional tennis player from Finland. Career The right-hander reached his highest individual ranking on the ATP Tour on 1 October 1990, reaching World number 48. His best performance at a Grand Slam came at the 1990 Australian Open, where he made the fourth round. Paloheimo participated in 12 Davis Cup ties for Finland from 1986–1992, posting an 11–11 record in singles and a 4–5 record in doubles. Hanko, Finland
Hanko (; sv, Hangö) is a port town and municipality on the south coast of Finland, west of Helsinki. Its current population is (). The Grand Prix tennis circuit was a professional tennis tour for male players that existed from 1970 to 1989. The Grand Prix and World Championship Tennis (WCT) were the two predecessors to the current tour for male players, the ATP Tour, with the Grand Prix being more prominent. Background Before the Open Era, popular professional tennis players, such as Suzanne Lenglen and Vincent Richards, were contracted to professional promoters. Amateur players were under the jurisdiction of their national (and international) federations. Later professional promoters, such as Bill Tilden and Jack Kramer, often convinced leading amateurs like Pancho Gonzales and Rod Laver to join their tours with promises of good prize money.
