Mihăiță Nițulescu
Mihăiță Nițulescu ( 1969 – 7 July 2022) was a Romanian professional boxer in the 1980s and 1990s, best known for his bouts against Francisc Vaștag and Rudel Obreja, among others, at the National Championship Finals that were held at the Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest in 1989. Early life Born to poor parents, Nițulescu was brought up in an orphanage in Târgu Ocna. From a young age, he was interested in sport, and through hard work and determination, he started training as a professional boxer, coached by boxing coach Mihai Pătrățeanu at CSM Borzești. Boxing career Nițulescu's boxing career took off in 1989 when he reached the Romanian National Boxing Championship, which took place at the Polyvalent Hall in Bucharest in November. Târgu Ocna
Târgu Ocna (; hu, Aknavásár) is a town in Bacău County, Romania, situated on the left bank of the Trotuș River, an affluent of the Siret, and on a branch railway which crosses the Ghimeș Pass from Moldavia into Transylvania. Bacău
Bacău ( , , ; hu, Bákó; la, Bacovia) is the main city in Bacău County, Romania. At the 2016 national estimation it had a population of 196,883, making it the 12th largest city in Romania. The city is situated in the historical region of Moldavia, at the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains, and on the Bistrița River (which meets the Siret River about to the south of Bacău). Francisc Vaștag (; born 26 November 1969) is a retired Romanian amateur boxer, who won three world amateur titles between 1989 and 1995, in the welterweight and light middleweight categories. He competed at the 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympics reaching quarterfinals in 1992. After retiring from competitions he coached the national boxing team. Rudel Obreja
Rudel Obreja (6 August 1965 – 12 March 2023) was a Romanian boxer and businessman. He competed in the men's welterweight event at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Obreja also won four national senior titles, a bronze medal at the 1989 World Amateur Boxing Championships and a silver medal at the European Amateur Boxing Championships. He was the president of the Romanian Boxing Federation between 2004 and 2012.
