Miguel Pate
Miguel Pate (born June 13, 1979 in St. Francisville, Louisiana) is an American track and field athlete. His speciality is the long jump, although during his high school and collegiate career he also competed in the triple jump, high jump, 100 m, 200 m, 4 × 100 m relay, and 4 × 400 m. After graduating West Feliciana High School he attended Meridian Junior College from 1997 until 1999 where he excelled in the triple jump and long jump and addition to playing on the basketball team his freshman year. The men's long jump at the 2008 Olympic Games took place on 16 and 18 August at the Beijing Olympic Stadium. Thirty-eight athletes from 32 nations competed. Prefontaine Classic
The Prefontaine Classic, an Oregon Track Club event, is one of the premier track and field meets in the United States, held in Eugene, Oregon. Every year it draws a world caliber field to compete at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon. Previously one of the IAAF Grand Prix events, it is now part of the Diamond League. Dwight Phillips
Dwight Phillips (born October 1, 1977) is an American former track and field, athlete and a four-time IAAF World Championships in Athletics, world champion in the long jump. He was the 2004 Summer Olympics, 2004 Olympic champion in the event. His personal best of 8.74 meters, set in 2009, makes him the joint fifth best jumper of all time. Phillips has also competed in the 60-meter dash, 60 and 100-meter dashes. His personal record for the 100 m is 10.06 seconds and his time of 6.47 seconds over 60 m ranks among the top twenty fastest ever.
