Miguel Albareda Creus
Miguel Albareda Creus (20 February 1919 in Sabadell - 13 April 2012) was a Spanish chess player. He was once runner-up in the 1945 Spanish competition behind the international master Antonio Medina García. He was eight times champion of Catalonia in the years 1943, 1945, 1954, 1957, 1958, 1959, 1962 and 1963, and he was runner-up four times, in the years 1946, 1948, 1953 and 1965. He won the Sabadell tournament in 1944 and represented Spain in the Chess Olympiads of 1958 in Munich, and the UEFA European Chess Team in Oberhausen Oberhausen (, ) is a city on the river Emscher in the Ruhr Area, Germany, located between Duisburg and Essen ( ). Sabadell
Sabadell () is a city in Catalonia, Spain. It is in the south of the ''comarca'' of Vallès Occidental and its joint capital (co-capital), on the River Ripoll, north of Barcelona. Sabadell is located above sea level. Sabadell pioneered the Industrial Revolution in Catalonia with its textile mills, together with its archrival Terrassa. Thus, in the mid-19th century, it became the most important wool city in Spain, being nicknamed the "Catalan Manchester#Industrial Revolution, Manchester". Antonio Medina García
Antonio Ángel Medina García (2 October 1919, Barcelona – 31 October 2003, Barcelona) was a Spanish chess master. He was seven times Spanish Champion (1944, 1945, 1947, 1949, 1952, 1963, and 1964), and thrice Catalan Champion (1947, 1949, 1950). He also thrice won Venezuelan Chess Championship in 1955, 1956 and 1958. Medina won at Caracas 1954 (zonal), and took 19th at Goteborg 1955 (interzonal, David Bronstein won). Medina was awarded the International Master FIDE titles are awarded by the international chess governing body FIDE (''Fédération Internationale des Échecs'') for outstanding performance. Oberhausen (, ) is a city on the river Emscher in the Ruhr Area, Germany, located between Duisburg and Essen ( ).
