The Mid-Peninsula Athletic Conference was an athletic conference for high schools in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. It was formed in 1976. Athletic Conference
An athletic conference is a collection of sports teams, playing competitively against each other in a sports league. In many cases conferences are subdivided into smaller divisions, with the best teams competing at successively higher levels. Conferences often, but not always, include teams from a common geographic region. Australian rules football The AFL Women's competition used a non-geographic conference system in 2019 and 2020. The league was divided into two conferences, based on ladder position in the previous season. Not every team could play each other due to the limited number of rounds, so conferences were introduced so that teams were only measured against the teams they played. The system was controversial because it allowed some weak teams to make finals, and strong teams from the other conference missed out on finals. Westwood High School is a four-year educational institute located in Ishpeming Township, Michigan, United States. Founded in 1974, it is managed by the N.I.C.E. Community Schools school district. The school educates around 360 students in grades 9–12. Westwood High School offers its students several courses, extracurricular activities, and athletics in which to engage. Norway is a city in Dickinson County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 2,845 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Iron Mountain, MI– WI Micropolitan Statistical Area. Norway–Vulcan Area Schools is a school district serving Norway and Waucedah townships in Dickinson County and Faithorn in Menominee County all located in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The school district was formed in 1964 following the consolidation of Norway City Schools, Norway Township, Waucedah Township and Faithorn. The Norway–Vulcan Area Schools serves more than 800 students on its campus in the city of Norway. Negaunee ( or ) is a city in Marquette County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 4,568 at the 2010 census. Ishpeming ( ) is a city in Marquette County in the Upper Peninsula of the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 6,470 at the 2010 census, less than it was in the 1950s and 1960s when the iron ore mines employed more workers.
