History Early years and breakthrough: 1991–2003 Clutch was formed in 1991 by Dan Maines (bass), Jean-Paul Gaster (drums), Tim Sult (guitar), and Roger Smalls (vocals) in Germantown, Maryland. Before settling on the name Clutch, the band used the early names Glut Trip and Moral Minority. Smalls soon departed and was replaced by Neil Fallon, a longtime schoolmate of the other members at Seneca Valley High School. Germantown, Maryland
Germantown is an urbanized census-designated place in Montgomery County, Maryland, United States. With a population of 91,249 as of 2020 U.S. Decennial Census, Germantown is the third most populous place in Maryland, after the city of Baltimore, and the census-designated place of Columbia. Germantown is located approximately outside the U.S. capital of Washington, D.C. and is an important part of the Washington metropolitan area. Germantown was founded in the early 19th century by European immigrants, though much of the area's development did not take place until the mid-20th century. The original plan for Germantown divided the area into a downtown and six town villages: Gunners Lake Village, Kingsview Village, Churchill Village, Middlebrook Village, Clopper's Mill Village, and Neelsville Village. The Churchill Town Sector at the corner of Maryland Route 118 and Middlebrook Road most closely resembles the downtown or center of Germantown because of the location of the Upcount ...

WXQR
WXQR-FM (105.5 MHz) is a radio station broadcasting a Regional Mexican format. Originally based in Jacksonville, North Carolina, the station is headquartered in New Bern. History WXQR-FM is one of the oldest rock stations in America. It was known as "The Rock and Roll Animal" from the 1970s until the mid-1990s. The station was once owned by Sidney Popkin, a member of one of the most prominent families in Jacksonville. During the 1980s and 1990s, the station was headquartered on New Bridge Street near downtown Jacksonville, in what was once the Iwo Jima Theater. Because of its location, it was a favorite for decades among Marines stationed at Camp Lejeune. The station operated with 3,000 watts of power, which put them at a competitive disadvantage against its Newport-based rival Z-103, but WXQR had a solid following of loyal listeners. When Z-103 finally switched to Adult Contemporary (WMGV), New Bern's WSFL-FM became WXQR's main competition; however, WXQR-FM wasn't competitiv ...

Pure Rock Fury
''Pure Rock Fury'' is the fifth full-length album by American rock band Clutch, released on March 13, 2001, and is the only album release with Atlantic Records. The album liner notes state that it is dedicated to Ronnie True. Album information This album features guest appearances by Scott "Wino" Weinrich (The Obsessed, Saint Vitus, Spirit Caravan), Leslie West (Mountain), and Dan and Joe of Sixty Watt Shaman, highlighting the band's habit of having musical contemporaries play on their albums. The album yielded a minor hit with "Careful with That Mic...", a rap rock parody, which ''CMJ'' complimented for its clever rhymes. The song "Immortal" was originally released with different lyrics and arrangement as the song "Baby I'm Down" by Leslie West on his debut album ''Mountain''. Clutch rearranged it and changed the lyrics somewhat, and it features a guitar solo by the original author, Leslie West, on it, who then had his band 'Mountain' cover this Clutch version on their '' Mysti ...

Jam Room
''Jam Room'' is the fourth full-length album by the American rock band Clutch, released in 1999 on the band's own label River Road Records. Album information The initial limited release contained 12 tracks in 1999 and was a European release only to begin with, and had to be an import for their home country United States, but in 2004 it was reissued by Megaforce Records with three additional tracks, "The Drifter", "I Send Pictures", and "Sink 'Em Low" added to the album's song list. The version of "Sink 'Em Low" found on the reissue is the demo version of the same track found on ''Pure Rock Fury,'' which is faster and heavier. The track "One Eye Dollar" was re-recorded in 2007 on the album '' From Beale Street to Oblivion.'' It was another example of the band releasing demo versions to songs that would later become something slightly different, as they did with ''Impetus'', '' Pitchfork & Lost Needles'' and ''Slow Hole to China'', the former being a reissue itself, the middle ...
