Michèle Thibodeau-DeGuire
Michèle Thibodeau-DeGuire is a Canadian engineer born in Montreal, Quebec in 1941. She was inducted into the Order of Canada in 2003, made a Knight of the National Order of Quebec in 2005, and has been chair of the Board of Directors of the Corporation of École Polytechnique de Montréal since 2013. Biography Early life and education Michèle Thibodeau was the eldest of a family of four children. She received her diploma from the Sacred Heart Convent in 1957. When she was 17, her father, an architect, encouraged her to enrol at École Polytechnique of Montréal. She was the first woman to earn a degree in civil engineering in 1963. Also that year, she married Pierre-André DeGuire. The honour of the first woman to graduate from the Polytechnique belongs to Gabrielle Bodis, Diplôme en mécanique–électricité, in 1959. Autoroute 15 (also called the Décarie Expressway (English) or Autoroute Décarie (French) between the Turcot and Décarie Interchanges in Montreal and the Laurentian Autoroute (English) or Autoroute des Laurentides (French) north of Autoroute 40) is a highway in western Quebec, Canada. It was, until the extension of Autoroute 25 was opened in 2011, the only constructed north-south autoroute to go out of Montreal on both sides. Bernard Lamarre
Bernard Lamarre, (6 August 1931 – 30 March 2016) was a Canadian engineer and businessman. Born in Chicoutimi, Quebec in 1931, Lamarre received a Bachelor of Applied Sciences in Civil Engineering from the École Polytechnique de Montréal, an affiliate college of Université de Montréal, in 1952. He received a Master of Science degree from Imperial College of Science and Technology in 1955 and was a recipient of the Athlone Fellowship. He started work as a soil mechanics engineer with the firm of Lalonde & Valois eventually becoming president and chief executive officer of the firm now called Lavalin Group. He was president of ''Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec'' from 1993 to 1997.
