Ignace Michiels
Ignace Michiels (born 7 December 1963) is a Belgian organist, choral conductor and organ teacher. He is internationally known as a concert organist. Career Michiels studied the organ, the piano and the harpsichord at the music academy of Bruges. In 1986 he won a prize at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven. He continued his studies with Robert Anderson at the Southern Methodist University in Dallas, with Herman Verschraegen at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and with Odile Pierre at the Conservatoire de Paris where he graduated with a Prix d'Excellence. He also received the Higher Diploma of organ music at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent. Ignace Michiels has been teaching organ at the Royal Conservatory in Ghent and the music academy of Bruges. He has been principal organist of the St. Salvator's Cathedral. Oscar Michiels
François-Fidèle-Oscar Michiels (24 July 1881 – 14 June 1946) was a Belgian military officer who served in World War I and World War II. Biography Oscar Michiels was born in central Brussels on 24 July 1881. He enrolled in a military school aged 11. Three years later he attended cadet school in Namur, graduating in 1897 as a corporal. After being promoted to sergeant, he returned to the school in 1901. Finishing two years later, he was made a lieutenant. In 1913 Michiels was stationed at the fortified position of Liège. On 1 August 1914 he was attached to the staff of the Third Division, where he would remain for the duration of World War I. Following the Battle of the Yser Michiels was promoted to the rank of captain. In September 1915 he was moved to the front lines, but was injured several weeks later in an accident and returned to the Third Division's headquarters. In November he became captain-commandant. Yannick Michiels (born 29 July 1991) is a Belgian orienteer. He is the first Belgian orienteer to receive a medal at the World Orienteering Championships, receiving a bronze medal in the sprint discipline at the 2022 World Orienteering Championships in Denmark. Orienteering He represented Belgium at the 2017 World Games in Poland, where he won a silver medal in the sprint distance. Michiels competed at the 2012, 2013, 2014 (7th in sprint), 2015 (5th in sprint) and 2017 World Orienteering Championships. In 2021, he became the first Belgian to receive a medal in the European Orienteering Championships. In 2022, Michiels won Belgium's first medal at the World Orienteering Championships. Andreas Victor Michiels
Andreas Victor Michiels (Maastricht, Netherlands, 30 May 1797 – Kusamba, Bali 25 May 1849) was a military and administrative officer in the Dutch East Indies. Early life and military career Michiels entered military service at age 17 years, participated in the Battle of Waterloo, and in 1817 went to the island of Java, where he was directly involved in the conflict in Cirebon. On 29 August 1818 he was promoted to captain. He fought in the Java War as a colonel commandant. On 22 November 1828, King William I appointed Michiels a knight and officer in the Military William Order, one year before he was appointed as a major. In the years 1831 and 1832, he participated in the conquest of Narras and Kottiangan, in 1832, he led an expedition against the Jambi Sultanate; the month of May in that year he was appointed lieutenant-colonel and in November he was awarded a knighthood in the Order of the Netherlands Lion. Diego Muhammad bin Robbie Michiels or Diego Michiels (born 8 August 1990 in Deventer, Netherlands) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for Liga 1 club Borneo Samarinda. Ivo Michiels
Henri Paul René Ceuppens (8 January 1923 – 7 October 2012), who wrote under the pseudonym Ivo Michiels, was a Belgian writer. Biography Michiels was born in Mortsel. During World War II he was employed as a nurse in a hospital in Lübeck in Germany. He worked as a laboratory assistant for a while, and from 1948 up to 1957 he worked as a journalist at ''Het Handelsblad''. In 1965, he married Christiane Faes. From 1957 up to 1978 he worked at the publisher ''Ontwikkeling'' (E: Development). From 1959 until 1983 he was editor, and editorial secretary of the ''Nieuw Vlaams Tijdschrift''. From 1966 up to 1978 he also taught at the ''Hoger Rijksinstituut voor Toneel- en Cultuurspreiding'' in Brussels. In 1979, he established himself as a full-time writer in the Vaucluse (France). Stani Michiels
Stani Michiels is a visual artist, architect, and coin designer who was born in 1973 in Geel (Belgium). He lives and works in the Netherlands (Amsterdam). Michiels has a master's degree in architecture from the Catholic University of Leuven (1991–1996). Afterwards he studied art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie (1998–2001) and Rijksakademie (2002–2003) in Amsterdam. In his work architecture is often present. Most of his work is created digitally with self-made software. The final result is a drawing, photo or video, in which the digital origin is not obvious. Edgar Michiels Van Verduynen
Edgar Frederick Marie Justin, Baron Michiels van Verduynen (2 December 1885 – 13 May 1952) was a Dutch politician. Michiels van Verduynen was born in The Hague. He was a wealthy businessman, distinguished diplomat and conservative Catholic. He was a special envoy of the Dutch government to Czechoslovakia between 1920 and 1923. He became ambassador in London in 1939, shortly after the outbreak of the Second World War. When the Dutch government went into exile in London, he joined as a minister without portfolio. He married in The Hague on 24 November 1917 with Henriette Elisabeth Jochems (1882–1968). The marriage was childless and he died in London in 1952. Paul Anna Kamiel Michiels (born 15 June 1948) is a Belgian singer and songwriter who became popular for his work with the Belgian music group Soulsister. He has earned the nickname ''Polle Pap'', a name he inherited from a childhood job as a milkman in his hometown of Heist-op-den-Berg, where he was born. Paul started out with a small band called ''Purple Bus''. From 1974 until 1980, he played keyboards for a British-Belgian band called Octopus.
