Ivo Michiels
Henri Paul René Ceuppens (8 January 1923 – 7 October 2012), who wrote under the pseudonym Ivo Michiels, was a Belgian writer. Biography Michiels was born in Mortsel. During World War II he was employed as a nurse in a hospital in Lübeck in Germany. He worked as a laboratory assistant for a while, and from 1948 up to 1957 he worked as a journalist at ''Het Handelsblad''. In 1965, he married Christiane Faes. From 1957 up to 1978 he worked at the publisher ''Ontwikkeling'' (E: Development). From 1959 until 1983 he was editor, and editorial secretary of the ''Nieuw Vlaams Tijdschrift''. From 1966 up to 1978 he also taught at the ''Hoger Rijksinstituut voor Toneel- en Cultuurspreiding'' in Brussels. In 1979, he established himself as a full-time writer in the Vaucluse (France). He died, aged 89, in Le Barroux. Mortsel
Mortsel () is a city and Municipalities of Belgium, municipality close to the city of Antwerp located in the Belgium, Belgian province of Antwerp (province), Antwerp. The municipality only comprises the city of Mortsel proper. In 2021, Mortsel had a total population of 26,170 people. The total area is 7.78 km². Geography The city consists of the areas Mortsel-Dorp, Oude-God and Luithagen. Mortsel is bordered by Antwerp (districts Wilrijk, Berchem and Deurne, Belgium, Deurne), Borsbeek, Boechout, Hove, Belgium, Hove, and Edegem. History Mortsel was the scene for one of the major collateral damage tragedies of World War II. Javier Marías
Javier Marías Franco (20 September 1951 – 11 September 2022) was a Spanish author, translator, and columnist. Marías published fifteen novels, including '' A Heart So White'' (''Corazón tan blanco,'' 1992'')'' and '' Tomorrow in the Battle Think on Me'' (''Mañana en la batalla piensa en mí,'' 1994). In addition to his novels, he also published three collections of short stories and various essays. As one of Spain's most celebrated novelists, his books have been translated into forty-six languages and were sold close to nine million times internationally. He received several awards for his work, such as the Rómulo Gallegos Prize (1995), the International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award (1997), the International Nonino Prize (2011), and the Austrian State Prize for European Literature (2011).
