Michele Capobianco
Michele Capobianco (Vitulano, 1921 - Naples, 2005) was an Italian architect, active in the city of Naples. Biography Born in 1921 in the province of Benevento, Capobianco graduated in architecture in 1946. During his university years he was a student of Marcello Canino, in whose studio he worked since 1943. Immediately after graduating he opened a studio with Arrigo Marseille. In 1948 there were the first commissions: a building in Poggioreale (1948), the pavilion of Latin America (1948-52) and some residential buildings in the Commola Ricci park (1952–55). In 1950, following a visit carried out by a delegation of Swedish professors and students to study the new popular neighborhoods, Capobianco, urged by some Swedish architects, was invited to go to Sweden. Vitulano
Vitulano is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the Province of Benevento in the Italian region Campania, located about 50 km northeast of Naples and about 12 km northwest of Benevento. Vitulano borders the following municipalities: Campoli del Monte Taburno, Castelpoto, Cautano, Foglianise, Frasso Telesino, Guardia Sanframondi, Paupisi, San Lorenzo Maggiore, Solopaca, Torrecuso. The Colli Aminei are an area of Naples, Italy that is part of the municipality of Stella-San Carlo at the Arena, specifically of the Stella district. It is bordered to the west and north by the Vallone di San Rocco, to the east by the Capodimonte ascent, to the south by the valleys of the Scudillo and the Fontanelle. Vanvitelli (Naples Metro)
Vanvitelli is an underground metro station that serves Line 1 on the Naples Metro. It was opened on 28 May 1993 as the southern terminus of the inaugural section of Naples Metro, between Vanvitelli and Colli Aminei. On 5 April 2001, the line was extended to Museo, and Vanvitelli ceased to be the terminus. The station was built according to the plans of Michele Capobianco and has undergone a radical restoration (thanks to which the station is part of the circuit of art stations) directed by Michele Capobianco and his son Lorenzo Capobianco with artistic consulting by Achille Bonito Oliva. The entrances are placed in the four corners of Piazza Vanvitelli, as well as an underground corridor that leads from the station directly to the two funiculars namely that of Chiaia and Central. Rione Alto is a district of Naples, built at the turn of the 1960s and 70s in the Arenella district, near the hospital area. Arenella
Arenella is a quarter of Naples, southern Italy. It is on the Vomero hill above the city and was, 300 meters in elevation. Many years ago was considered a place to go to "get away from it all". It is near to the main hospital section of the city, set somewhat higher, on the way up to the Hermitage of Camaldoli. It has some points of historic interest, such as the presence of the workshop of Giambattista della Porta. Elio Vittorini (; 23 July 1908 – 12 February 1966) was an Italian writer and novelist. He was a contemporary of Cesare Pavese and an influential voice in the modernist school of novel writing. His best-known work is the anti-fascist novel '' Conversations in Sicily'', for which he was jailed when it was published in 1941. The first U.S. edition of the novel, published in 1949, included an introduction from Ernest Hemingway, whose style influenced Vittorini and that novel in particular. Life Vittorini was born in Syracuse, Sicily, and throughout his childhood moved around Sicily with his father, a railroad worker. Several times he ran away from home, culminating in his leaving Sicily for good in 1924.
