A ''michelada'' (Spanish language, Spanish pronunciation: [mitʃeˈlaða]) is a Mexican drink made with beer, lime (fruit), lime juice, assorted sauces (often chili pepper, chili-based), spices, and chili peppers. It is served in a chilled, salt-rimmed glass. There are numerous variations of this beverage throughout Mexico. In Mexico City, the most common form is prepared with beer, lime, salt, and particular hot sauces or chile slices. There are several other optional ingredients, such as Maggi sauce, soy sauce, Tajín (seasoning), Tajín, Worcestershire sauce, Chamoy (Sauce), chamoy powder, serrano peppers, or clamato. Clamato is a commercial drink made of reconstituted tomato juice concentrate and sugar, which is flavored with spices, dried clam broth and MSG. Made by Mott's, the name is a portmanteau of ''clam'' and ''tomato''. It is also referred to colloquially as "clamato juice".
