Michael Stepney (born 1980) is a Scottish international indoor bowler. Bowls career He won the Scottish National Singles Championship in 2009 and the British Isles Singles Championship the following year. In 2017 he finished runner-up in the Scottish International Open, losing out to David Gourlay David Gourlay is a Scottish (and former Australian) international lawn & indoor bowler from the Prestwick Bowling Club and Crookston Bowling Club. Elgin, Moray
Elgin (; sco, Ailgin; gd, Eilginn, ) is a town (former cathedral city) and formerly a Royal Burgh in Moray, Scotland. It is the administrative and commercial centre for Moray. The town originated to the south of the River Lossie on the higher ground above the floodplain where the town of Birnie is. There, the church of Birnie Kirk was built in 1140 and serves the community to this day. Elgin is first documented in the Cartulary of Moray in 1190 AD. It was created a royal burgh in the 12th century by King David I of Scotland, and by that time had a castle on top of the present-day Lady Hill to the west of the town. World Bowls Indoor Championships
The World Bowls Indoor Championships is bowls event inaugurated in 2019 by the organisations known as World Bowls and the International Indoor Bowls Council (IIBC). It is contested annually between bowlers from national bowls organisations. The competition is the rival event to the World Bowls Tour's blue riband event called the World Indoor Bowls Championships. In 2019, World Bowls came to an agreement with the IIBC (formerly the WIBC). The agreement was to merge their two international indoor championships, the World Cup Singles and the IIBC Championships. The new event would be called the World Bowls Indoor Championships. 2022 World Bowls Indoor Championships
The 2022 World Bowls Indoor Championships took place at County of Bristol IBC, Bristol, England, from 25 to 29 April 2022. The event was organised by World Bowls and the International Indoor Bowls Council (IIBC). The Championships are the inaugural edition because two attempts at holding the event in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2019, World Bowls came to an agreement with the IIBC (formerly the WIBC). The agreement was to merge their two international indoor championships, the World Cup Singles and the IIBC Championships. The Championships were streamed live by the English Indoor Bowling Association's platform EIBA TV. The format of the Championships is one player representing each county in the singles and two in the pairs. A round robin will end with the top two in the singles progressing to the knock out rounds but only the group winner in the pairs progressing to the knock out round. David Gourlay
David Gourlay is a Scottish (and former Australian) international lawn & indoor bowler from the Prestwick Bowling Club and Crookston Bowling Club. He is also a Commonwealth Games medal winning coach. Bowls career Gourlay, a Glaswegian, first took up the game aged 11 following the success of his father David Gourlay Sr. at the 1982 Commonwealth Games and his mother Sarah Gourlay at the 1985 World Outdoor Championships. He has won 15 World Bowls Tour Titles with the highlight being the World Indoor Singles title in 1996. He represented Scotland at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur. He is related to the Scottish footballers James Gourlay and Jimmy Gourlay. Stewart Anderson (bowls)
Stewart Anderson (born 23 July 1985) is a Scottish international bowls player and a world champion indoors. Bowls career He started bowling aged just 12 with Auchinleck Indoor Juniors and outdoor with Glaisnock Valley. Having previously been a beaten finalist in the 2010 World Championships (where he lost out to Greg Harlow) Anderson beat Paul Foster in the final match that ended 10-10, 10-9 to secure the 2013 World indoor title. In 2015 he won the triples gold medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. During the 2016 World Indoor Bowls Championship Anderson partnered up with Darren Burnett and the Scottish pair recorded their first Open Pairs title success. In 2018 he won the Scottish International Open. Later that season, Anderson became a two-time World Open singles champion, winning the 2019 World Indoor Bowls Championship.
