Michael Marshall (bishop)
Michael Eric Marshall (born 14 April 1936) is a British Anglican bishop who served as the eighth Bishop of Woolwich in the Church of England from 1975 to 1984. Education and career Marshall was educated at Lincoln Grammar School and Christ's College, Cambridge. He was ordained a deacon at Michaelmas (26 September) 1960 by the Rt. Rev. Leonard Wilson, Bishop of Birmingham, at St Peter's Church, Spring Hill, in Birmingham, and was ordained a priest the following Michaelmas (25 September 1961) by the Rt. Rev. Michael Parker, Bishop of Aston, at St Agatha's Church, Sparkbrook. His first ministry position was as a curate at St Peter's Church, Spring Hill, after which he was temporarily a tutor at Ely Theological College and then a chaplain at the University of London. Michael Marshall (politician)
Sir Robert Michael Marshall, (21 June 1930 – 6 September 2006), usually known as Michael Marshall, was a British businessman, politician, cricketer and author. After a career in the steel industry, he was Conservative Member of Parliament for Arundel for 23 years, from the February 1974 general election until the constituency was abolished in 1997. He was the first MP with an MBA from Harvard, and was a junior government minister in Margaret Thatcher's first government, from 1979 to 1981. He was heavily engaged with the Inter-Parliamentary Union, and had interests in theatre, cricket, golf, and wrote a number of books. Early and private life Marshall was born in Sheffield. Michael "Marsh" Marshall (born 13 August 1983) is a British skeptical activist, freelance journalist, public speaker, podcaster, author, blogger and, since September 2020, the editor of '' The Skeptic'' magazine. He is the co-founder and vice-president of the Merseyside Skeptics Society and co-host of its official podcast, ''Skeptics with a K'', project director of the Good Thinking Society, and has occasionally written for ''The Times'', ''The Guardian'' and ''New Statesman''. Michael Paul Marshall Smith (born 3 May 1965) is an English novelist, screenwriter and short story writer who also writes as Michael Marshall, M. M. Smith and Michael Rutger. Biography Born in Knutsford, Cheshire, Smith moved with his family at an early age to first Illinois and then Florida. When he was seven, the family moved again, this time to South Africa, and then to Australia before eventually returning home to England in 1973. He was educated at Chigwell School, where he was in Swallows House and dated fellow pupil and future senior Sky News editor Sally Arthy, and at King's College, Cambridge, where he studied Philosophy, Social and Political Science, and became involved with the Cambridge Footlights. Carl Williams (criminal)
Carl Anthony Williams (13 October 1970 – 19 April 2010) was an Australian convicted murderer and drug trafficker from Melbourne, Victoria. He is the central figure in the Melbourne gangland killings as well as their final victim. He was sentenced to life imprisonment with a non-parole period of 35 years for ordering the murders of three people and conspiracy to murder a fourth (which was unsuccessful). On 19 April 2010, while incarcerated at HM Prison Barwon, Williams was beaten to death with the stem of an exercise bike by another inmate, Matthew Charles Johnson. Williams enlisted the help of others willing to perform the contract killings in exchange for large payments of cash. At the time of his death, he was in the maximum-security Acacia unit of HM Prison Barwon near Geelong. Williams would have been 71 before he is eligible for parole.
