Michael Lynch (25 August 1934 – 21 May 2019) was a Fianna Fáil politician from County Meath in Ireland. He served two terms as a Teachta Dála (TD) in the 1980s, and was a Senator for four years. Lynch stood unsuccessfully as a Fianna Fáil candidate for Dáil Éireann for the Meath constituency at the 1977 and 1981 general elections, before winning a seat there at the February 1982 general election. He was defeated at the November 1982 general election, but was then elected to the 17th Seanad on the Administrative Panel. He was returned to the Dáil at the 1987 general election, but after a further defeat at the 1989 general election (by his Fianna Fáil colleague Mary Wallace) he did not stand for the Dáil again. Mick Lynch (11 October 1959 – 17 December 2015) was an Irish musician, best known for his work in the Irish-English band Stump. Lynch was the son of Tadhg and Noreen Lynch and was one of five siblings. He was born in Limerick and grew up in Cork. Stump were popular among the indie scene and the British music press in the 1980s and early 1990s. John Peel was a fan of their music. Stump was led by Lynch and influenced by Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart and others. Lynch was especially popular for his lyrics. Michael Francis Lynch (born 1950) is an Australian arts administrator. Biography Lynch was General Manager of the Sydney Theatre Company 1989–94. He was then General Manager of the Australia Council, the Federal Government's arts funding and advisory body, 1994–98. In 1998 he became director of the Sydney Opera House, and from 2002 to 2009 he was chief executive of the South Bank Centre in London. Lynch has overseen the successful rehabilitation of the Royal Festival Hall, which was re-opened in October 2007 by The Queen (King George VI having opened the original building in 1951). Michael Felix Lynch MBCS (born February 1932) is a Professor Emeritus in the Information School of the University of Sheffield, England, his main research having been in chemoinformatics. Lynch obtained B.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in chemistry from University College, Dublin in 1954 and 1957. Following two years in industry in the UK, he joined the staff of Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) in Columbus, Ohio in the US, in 1961. Lynch returned to the UK in 1965 and was a teacher and researcher at Sheffield in the Postgraduate School of Librarianship and Information Science, later the Department of Information Studies and now the Information School, from 1965 until 1995.
