Michael L. Morano
Michael Lawrence Morano (October 16, 1915 – May 7, 2000) was an American businessman and politician who served on the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1960 to 1976 and in the Connecticut State Senate from 1960 to 1976 for the Republican Party. Early life and education Morano was born October 16, 1915, in Greenwich, Connecticut, the second of eight children, to Lawrence Morano, a clothing retail merchant, and Marietta (née DeLuca). His parents were born in Connecticut and New York, and all his grandparents being born in Italy. Politics He served in the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1960 to 1976, deafeating Lowell Weicker, Jr., and also in the Connecticut Senate from 1976 to 1988, as a Republican. Lowell Weicker
Lowell Palmer Weicker Jr. (; born May 16, 1931) is an American politician who served as a U.S. Representative, U.S. Senator, and the 85th Governor of Connecticut. He unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for president in 1980. He was known as a Rockefeller Republican in Congress, causing conservative-leaning Republicans to endorse his opponent Joe Lieberman, a New Democrat, in the 1988 Senate election which he subsequently lost. Weicker later left the Republican Party, and became one of the few third-party candidates to be elected to a state governorship in the United States in recent years, doing so on the ticket of A Connecticut Party.
