Michael Howells
Michael Howells (13 January 1957 – 19 July 2018) was an English Production Designer, Set Designer, Creative Director and respected designer who worked across film, fashion, theatre and television. Howells started as an Assistant Art Director on '' The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover'', where he worked with fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier. Known particularly for his work in fashion with John Galliano, his work was seen in the films ''Orlando'' (1992), '' Emma'' (1995), and ''Nanny McPhee'' (2005). He was the production designer for the first two series of ITV's ''Victoria'' (2016–2017). Howells collaborated with Galliano on his own label and at Dior, Christian Lacroix, Alexander McQueen on shows; photographers Mario Testino and Nick Knight on editorial and advertising including many editions of Vogue and advertising campaigns for Dior, Burberry and Dolce and Gabbana. Karl Otto Lagerfeld (; 10 September 1933 – 19 February 2019) was a German fashion designer, creative director, artist and photographer. He was known as the creative director of the French fashion house Chanel, a position held from 1983 until his death, and was also creative director of the Italian fur and leather goods fashion house Fendi, and of his own eponymous fashion label. Marc Andrew Newson CBE RDI (born 20 October 1963) is an industrial designer who works in aircraft cabin design, product design, furniture design, jewellery, and clothing. His style uses smooth geometric lines, translucency, strength, transparency, and tends to have an absence of sharp edges. Career Newson was born in Sydney, Australia, and in 1984 he graduated at the Sydney College of the Arts in Sydney, Australia studying jewellery and sculpture. Sir Jonathan Paul Ive (born 27 February 1967) is a British industrial and product designer, as well as businessman. Ive was the chief design officer (CDO) of Apple Inc. from 1997 until 2019 (known as senior vice principal of industrial design until 2015), and serves as Chancellor of the Royal College of Art. Ive joined Apple in September 1992, and was promoted to senior vice principal of industrial design in the late 1990s after the return of co-founder Steve Jobs to the company, and CDO in 2015. He left the company in July 2019. Claridge's is a 5-star hotel at the corner of Brook Street and Davies Street in Mayfair, London. It has long-standing connections with royalty that have led to it sometimes being referred to as an "annexe to Buckingham Palace". Claridge's Hotel is owned and managed by Maybourne Hotel Group. History Founding Claridge's was founded in 1812 as Mivart's Hotel, in a conventional London terraced house, and it grew by expanding into neighbouring houses. In 1854, the founder (the father of biologist St. George Jackson Mivart) sold the hotel to a Mr and Mrs Claridge, who owned a smaller hotel next door. They combined the two operations, and after trading for a time as "Mivart's late Claridge's", they settled on the current name.
