Michael Cook (cricketer)
Michael Stephen Cook (born 19 February 1939) is a former English cricketer. Cook was a left-handed batsman who occasionally fielded as a wicket-keeper. He was born at Edgbaston, Warwickshire. Cook made two first-class appearances for Warwickshire, against Cambridge University in 1961 and Oxford University in 1962. Against Cambridge University at Mitchells and Butlers' Ground, Cook scored 52 in his maiden first-class innings before he was run out. In their second-innings, he was dismissed for 15 runs by Simon Douglas-Pennant, with Warwickshire winning the match by 51 runs. Against Oxford University at Edgbaston, Cook scored 27 runs in Warwickshire's first-innings before he was dismissed by Colin Drybrough, while in their second-innings he was dismissed by Ian Potter for 16 runs. Edgbaston
Edgbaston () is an affluent suburban area of central Birmingham, England, historically in Warwickshire, and curved around the southwest of the city centre. In the 19th century, the area was under the control of the Gough-Calthorpe family and the Gillott family who refused to allow factories or warehouses to be built in Edgbaston, thus making it attractive for the wealthier residents of the city. Run Out
Run out is a method of dismissal in cricket, governed by Law 38 of the Laws of Cricket. A run out usually occurs when the batsmen are attempting to run between the wickets, and the fielding team succeed in getting the ball to one wicket before a batsman has crossed the crease line near the wicket. Colin David Drybrough (born 31 August 1938) is an Australian-born former cricketer who played all of his first-class cricket in England. Born in East Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, Drybrough attended Highgate School in North London from 1950 to 1957 and scored 128 not out at Lord's for the Southern Schools against The Rest and captained the Public Schools against the Combined Services. In 1957 he was awarded the Cricket Society Prize for the most promising young cricketer of the year. Drybrough played for Middlesex Second XI in 1957, scoring 101 not out against Kent Second XI and 67 and 88 not out against Suffolk. Edgbaston Cricket Ground, also known as the County Ground or Edgbaston Stadium, is a cricket ground in the Edgbaston area of Birmingham, England. Simon Douglas-Pennant, 7th Baron Penrhyn (born 28 June 1938) is a British nobleman. He is the current holder of the title of Baron Penrhyn - he succeeded his father Nigel's elder brother the 6th Baron, who died without male issue in 2003. He studied at Eton College and Clare College, Cambridge, where he represented the university at cricket from 1959 to 1961 as a left-arm opening bowler. Edgbaston Foundation Ground, formerly Mitchells and Butlers' Ground, is a cricket ground in Birmingham, Warwickshire. The ground, near the Mitchells & Butlers brewery, was owned by Mitchells & Butlers, which had its headquarters in Birmingham. The first recorded match on the ground was in 1888, when Mitchells played Warwickshire Club and Ground. The first first-class match came in 1931 when Warwickshire played Kent. From 1931 to 1939, the ground hosted 9 first-class matches. First-class cricket returned to the ground in 1957, with Warwickshire play 4 further first-class matches at the ground.
