Michael Buckworth Bailey
Rev. Michael Buckworth Bailey M.A. (10 April 1827 - 6 December 1899) was a minister of the Church of England. As Consular Chaplain to the British Legation in Yokohama, Bailey was one of the first Anglican priests to serve in Japan. Background and early life Born in Kottayam, India in 1827, son of CMS missionary Rev. Benjamin Bailey. Educated in Dewsbury, Yorkshire and at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. Ordained deacon in 1854 and priest in 1855, thereafter serving as curate in a number of parishes in and around London. Consular Chaplain in Japan Appointed in December 1861 as the first Consular Chaplain to the British Legation in Yokohama. Bailey arrived in Japan in August 1862 and stayed until 1874. Bailey was the appointed priest in charge of Christ Church, Yokohama, one of the first churches to be constructed in the recently opened treaty port. Michael Bailey (born October 11, 1982) is a former professional Canadian football player with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Early years In September 2002, he enrolled at Mount Allison University, studying English while playing for both the Mount Allison Mounties football and basketball teams. In 2003, he was named an Atlantic University Sport All-Star and named the Mounties most improved player, recording 36 tackles in 8 games. In 2005, he was selected to compete in the CIS football East West Bowl. Mike Bailey (born 6 April 1988) is an English former actor. He is best known for playing the role of Sid Jenkins in the first two series of the British teen drama '' Skins''. Michael Alfred Bailey (born 27 February 1942) is an English former international footballer who played in the Football League for Charlton Athletic, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Hereford United, and in the North American Soccer League for the Minnesota Kicks. He represented England twice. He then became a football manager, taking charge of clubs in England and abroad. Career Bailey joined Charlton Athletic from non-League club Gorleston in 1958, and turned professional in March 1959. He spent all his time at The Valley in the Second Division, making 151 League appearances for the club during an eight-year stay in which he also served as club captain, before moving to fellow second-tier team Wolverhampton Wanderers in March 1966 for a fee of £40,000. Early life Bailey was raised in the Sydney suburb of Sefton and educated at De La Salle College, Bankstown (1959–1965) and later De La Salle College, Ashfield (1966–1967). Michael John Bailey (born 1 August 1954) is an English former cricketer. Bailey was born at Cheltenham in August 1954. He made his debut in first-class cricket for Hampshire against Essex at Bournemouth in the 1979 County Championship. He played first-class cricket for Hampshire until 1982, making twenty appearances. Playing principally as a right-arm off break bowler, Bailey took 18 wickets at an average of 55.33; he took one five wicket haul, with figures of 5 for 89 against Northamptonshire in 1980. He scored 228 runs with the bat at a batting average of 11.40, with a highest score of 24. He was noted by Robin Smith, who joined Hampshire in Bailey's final season with the county, as the dressing-room joker in the Hampshire team.
