Michael Bailey (Canadian Football)
Michael Bailey (born October 11, 1982) is a former professional Canadian football player with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. Early years In September 2002, he enrolled at Mount Allison University, studying English while playing for both the Mount Allison Mounties football and basketball teams. In 2003, he was named an Atlantic University Sport All-Star and named the Mounties most improved player, recording 36 tackles in 8 games. In 2005, he was selected to compete in the CIS football East West Bowl. Professional career Bailey attended the 2006 CFL Evaluation Camp and, though he went undrafted in the 2006 CFL Draft, his performance was impressive enough that he was signed by the Toronto Argonauts as a free agent on May 12, 2006, and dressed in both pre-season games versus Hamilton as a backup offensive lineman, backup defensive tackle, and played on special teams. CFL Evaluation Camp
The CFL Combine (formerly known as the Evaluation Camp or E-Camp) is a three-day program in which athletes from Canadian universities and Canadians in the NCAA are scouted by general managers, coaches and scouts of the Canadian Football League (CFL). The goal of the camp is for the nine CFL franchises to have a better idea of whom they would like to draft in the CFL draft which usually takes place roughly six weeks after the camp. The first combined Evaluation Camp took place in 2000 in Toronto and continued every year in Toronto until 2016 when it was announced that Regina, Saskatchewan would host the combine in 2017. It was also suggested that the league will begin rotating the Combine hosts every year. Winnipeg hosted in 2018 and the event returned to Toronto with the hiatus of the CFL Week event. In sports, the practice squad, also called the taxi squad or practice roster, is a group of players signed by a team but not part of their main roster. Frequently used in gridiron football, they serve as extra players during the team's practices, often as part of the scout team by emulating an upcoming opponent's play style. Because the players on the practice squad are familiar with the team's plays and formations, the practice squad serves as a way to develop inexperienced players for promotion to the main roster. A defensive tackle (DT) is a position in American football that will typically line up on the line of scrimmage, opposite one of the offensive guards, however he may also line up opposite one of the tackles. Defensive tackles are typically the largest and strongest of the defensive players. Depending on a team's individual defensive scheme, a defensive tackle may be called upon to fill several different roles. These roles may include merely holding the point of attack by refusing to be moved, or penetrating a certain gap between offensive linemen to break up a play in the opponent's backfield.
