Mianhua Islet
Mianhua Islet () is a high island in Zhongzheng District, Keelung, Zhongzheng District, Keelung, Taiwan, located in the East China Sea. The East China Sea is an arm of the Western Pacific Ocean, located directly offshore from East China. It covers an area of roughly . The sea’s northern extension between mainland China and the Korean Peninsula is the Yellow Sea, separated by an imaginary line between the eastern tip of Qidong at the Yangtze River estuary and the southwestern tip of South Korea's Jeju Island. Cuthbert Collingwood (naturalist)
Cuthbert Collingwood (1826–1908) was an English naturalist, surgeon and physician. Life Born at Greenwich on 25 December 1826, he was fifth of six sons of Samuel Collingwood (1786–1852), an architect and contractor, of Wellington Grove, Greenwich, and his wife Frances, daughter of Samuel Collingwood (1762–1841), printer to the Clarendon Press. Educated at King's College School, he matriculated at Christ Church, Oxford, on 8 April 1845, and graduated B.A. in 1849, proceeding M.A. in 1852 and M.B. in 1854. He subsequently studied at Edinburgh University and at Guy's Hospital, and spent some time in the medical schools of Paris and Vienna. From 1858 to 1866 Collingwood held the appointment of lecturer on botany to the Liverpool Royal Infirmary School of Medicine. Pengjia Islet
Pengjia Islet (), also known as P'eng-chia Hsü, Hōka-sho, Agincourt, Dashihshan Islet, Chaolai Islet, P'eng-chia Yü or Pengchia Islet, is an islet north of Taiwan and is administered under Zhongzheng District, Keelung City. It is under Taiwanese military control and cannot be visited by ordinary citizens. History In September 1984, forty plus fishing boats from Japan intruded on the territorial waters of Pengchia Islet (Pengjia Islet). Their catch was estimated to be worth 20 million TWD. George Leslie Mackay
George Leslie Mackay 偕瑞理 or 馬偕 ''Má-kai'' (21 March 1844 – 2 June 1901) was a Canadian Presbyterian missionary. He was the first Presbyterian missionary to northern Taiwan (then Formosa), serving with the Canadian Presbyterian Mission. Mackay is among the best known Westerners to have lived in Taiwan. Early life George Leslie Mackay was born on March 21, 1844, the youngest of six children to a pioneering Scottish family in Embro, Zorra Township, Oxford County, Canada West (now Ontario), Canada. His family was part of the Zorra Pioneers, refugees from the Sutherland Clearances in northern Scotland, who arrived in Zorra in 1830. The Zorra pioneers were Evangelical Presbyterians, for whom their church, led by lay elders, was the centre of their collective life.
