Pengjia Islet
Pengjia Islet (), also known as P'eng-chia Hsü, Hōka-sho, Agincourt, Dashihshan Islet, Chaolai Islet, P'eng-chia Yü or Pengchia Islet, is an islet north of Taiwan and is administered under Zhongzheng District, Keelung City. It is under Taiwanese military control and cannot be visited by ordinary citizens. History In September 1984, forty plus fishing boats from Japan intruded on the territorial waters of Pengchia Islet (Pengjia Islet). Their catch was estimated to be worth 20 million TWD. On 7 September 2012 and again on 9 April 2016, President Ma Ying-jeou visited Pengjia Islet. Geography Pengjia Islet part of Zhongzheng, Keelung, Taiwan (ROC). The islet is located to the northeast of Keelung. The islet is surrounded by cliffs on its eastern, southern and northern sides. On the western side, the sea is full of reef and rocks. Zhongzheng District, Keelung
Zhongzheng District or Jhongjheng District () is a district of Keelung City, Taiwan. The district is the city seat of Keelung City. Geography Zhongzheng District includes Hoping Island ( 和平島) and the nearby Keelung Islet, as well as the more distant Pengjia Islet, Mianhua Islet and Huaping Islet. Pingfong Rock (), just east of Mianhua Islet, is the easternmost point under the actual control of Taiwan (ROC). Islet
An islet is a very small, often unnamed island. Most definitions are not precise, but some suggest that an islet has little or no vegetation and cannot support human habitation. The Army Map Service (AMS) was the military cartography, cartographic agency of the United States Department of Defense from 1941 to 1968, subordinated to the United States Army Corps of Engineers. On September 1, 1968, the AMS was redesignated the U.S. Army Topographic Command (USATC) and continued as an independent organization until January 1, 1972, when it was merged into the new Defense Mapping Agency (DMA) and redesignated as the DMA Topographic Center (DMATC). Pengjia Lighthouse
The Pengjia Lighthouse () is a lighthouse in Pengjia Islet, Zhongzheng District, Keelung, Taiwan. History The first phase construction of the lighthouse started in 1906 and completed in 1908. It started its service on 20 September 1909. In December 2015, the lighthouse was designated as a historic site by the Keelung City Government. Architecture The lighthouse was designed with brick and tubular structure and equipped with incandescent oil lamp standing at 26.2 meters high. The lighthouse is currently staffed by five workers. Ma Ying-jeou ( zh, 馬英九, born 13 July 1950) is a Hong Kong-born Taiwanese politician who served as president of the Republic of China from 2008 to 2016. Previously, he served as justice minister from 1993 to 1996 and mayor of Taipei from 1998 to 2006. He served as chairman of the Kuomintang (KMT) from 2005 to 2007 and from 2009 to 2014.
