Meyercrones Stiftelse
Meyercrones Stiftelse is a historic building located just north of Roskilde Cathedral in central Roskilde, Denmark. It was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places by the Danish Heritage Agency on 15 February 1978. History Meyercrones Stiftelse was founded by the widow after Henning de Meyercrone. He had served as Danish envoy in France until 1706. His widow, Christiane Meyercrone, was a daughter of Roskilde mayor Herman Schrøder. When her husband died, she bought a property with a small house located just north of Roskilde Cathedral from her mother Eva Schrøder. Known as Kantorhaven (The Cantor's Garden), it had previously been the site of a residence for the Cantor (Christianity), cantor at the cathedral. The house, which dated from the beginning of the 18th century, was converted into two residences for needy widows of the middle class. Neoclassical Architecture
Neoclassical architecture is an architectural style produced by the Neoclassical movement that began in the mid-18th century in Italy and France. It became one of the most prominent architectural styles in the Western world. The prevailing styles of architecture in most of Europe for the previous two centuries, Renaissance architecture and Baroque architecture, already represented partial revivals of the Classical architecture of ancient Rome and (much less) ancient Greek architecture, but the Neoclassical movement aimed to strip away the excesses of Late Baroque and return to a purer and more authentic classical style, adapted to modern purposes. Roskilde ( , ) is a city west of Copenhagen on the Danish island of Zealand. Roskilde Cathedral ( da, Roskilde Domkirke), in the city of Roskilde on the island of Zealand (Denmark), Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark, is a cathedral of the Lutheranism, Lutheran Church of Denmark. In Christianity, the cantor, sometimes called the precentor or the protopsaltes (; from ), is the chief singer, and usually instructor, employed at a church, with responsibilities for the choir and the preparation of the Mass or worship service. Duebrødre Kloster
Duebrødre Kloster is a historical building located at the corner of Bredegade and Allehelgensgade in central Roskilde, Denmark. It was built in 1841 to design by Jørgen Hansen Koch. Duebrødre Kloster is also the name of the charitable organisation for which the building was originally constructed as a home for needy widows. It is no longer the owner of the building but is still active and owns 108 residences at three different sites in Toskilde. Duebrødre Kloster's old headquarters on Stændertorvet from 1880 was taken over by Roskilde City Hall in 1878 nit the city hall has now been moved to new premises.
