Metronome (メトロノーム) is a Japanese visual kei rock band, which took its influence from many genres, including techno, Rock music, rock, hardcore punk, hardcore and Pop music, pop. Musical styles They have also been described as Bitpop, gamewave and nintendocore. Their songs typically sampled video game, or video game inspired, sounds and while being based in rock, are heavily electronic as well. They have a total of 22 official releases, albums and singles. They maintained an indie career throughout their years, and were never a hot selling band among the visual kei scene, mainly due to their uncompromising approach to their sound. Visual Kei
is a movement among Japanese musicians that is characterized by the use of varying levels of make-up, elaborate hair styles and flamboyant costumes, often, but not always, coupled with androgynous aesthetics, similar to Western glam rock. Some Western sources consider visual kei a music genre, with its sound usually related to glam rock, punk rock and heavy metal. However, visual kei acts play various genres, including those considered by some as unrelated to rock such as electronic, pop, etc. Other sources, including members of the movement themselves, state that it is not a music genre and that the freedom of expression, fashion, and participation in the related subculture is what exemplifies the use of the term. Nintendocore is a broadly defined style of music that most commonly fuses chiptune and video game music with hardcore punk and/or heavy metal.
