Propellerheads (japanese Band)
Propellerheads were an English electronic music duo, formed in 1995 in Bath and consisting of Will White and Alex Gifford. History Prior to Propellerheads' formation, Alex Gifford played as a backing saxophonist for The Stranglers appearing on the albums '' Dreamtime'' (1986) and '' 10'' (1990) as well as the live album ''All Live and All of the Night'' (1988). Their first release was an EP named ''Dive!'', released in 1996 through the independent label Wall of Sound. They gained fame the next year by providing a remix for James Bond movie composer David Arnold's Bond tribute album '' Shaken & Stirred: The David Arnold James Bond Project'' covering John Barry's "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", the theme song to the sixth James Bond film, re-orchestrated by Arnold. Bath, Somerset
Bath () is a city in the Bath and North East Somerset unitary area in the county of Somerset, England, known for and named after its Roman-built baths. At the 2021 Census, the population was 101,557. Bath is in the valley of the River Avon, west of London and southeast of Bristol. The city became a World Heritage Site in 1987, and was later added to the transnational World Heritage Site known as the "Great Spa Towns of Europe" in 2021. Bath is also the largest city and settlement in Somerset. The city became a spa with the Latin name ' ("the waters of Sulis") 60 AD when the Romans built baths and a temple in the valley of the River Avon, although hot springs were known even before then. ''On Her Majesty's Secret Service'' is a 1969 spy film and the sixth in the ''James Bond'' series produced by Eon Productions. It is based on the 1963 novel by Ian Fleming. Following Sean Connery's decision to retire from the role after '' You Only Live Twice'', Eon selected George Lazenby, a model with no prior acting credits, to play the part of James Bond. During filming, Lazenby announced that he would play the role of Bond only once. In the film, Bond faces Blofeld (Telly Savalas), who is planning to hold the world to ransom by a threat to render all food plants and livestock infertile through the actions of a group of brainwashed "angels of death". At The Sign Of The Swingin' Cymbal
"At the Sign of the Swingin' Cymbal" (alternatively titled "At the Sign of the Swinging Cymbal") is an instrumental piece written by Brian Fahey. The piece was first released in September 1960 under the name Brian Fahey and His Orchestra. It is best known as Alan Freeman's signature song, having been used as the theme tune to his BBC Light Programme ''Pick of the Pops'' from 1961 to 1966. The original version was proposed to Alan by the BBC producer Derek Chinnery. By April 1966 it was replaced as the main theme by "Quite Beside the Point" by the Harry Roberts Sound and written by Cliff Adams. But bits of the original "Swinging Cymbal" theme were used occasionally by Alan as jingles in the show. From 5 April 1970, the show used a new version of "At The Sign of the Swinging Cymbal" arranged by former Ladybirds singer Barbara Moore and recorded by Brass Incorporated. “Spybreak!” is a 1997 single by the British big beat group Propellerheads from their first album, ''Decksandrumsandrockandroll.'' There are two versions of this song, called "Spybreak! (Long One)" and "Spybreak! (Short One)". The former is approximately three minutes longer than the latter. It appears in ''The Matrix'' during the lobby shootout sequence. The version used officially in the movie is titled "Short One". The track's inclusion in the film gave Propellerheads a boost into international recognition. “Spybreak!” was also included in ''The Simpsons'' episode “Lisa the Tree Hugger” and was played while Bart, wearing ninja clothes, posts a Thai restaurant’s menus throughout Springfield, as well as during the end credits. Jungle Brothers are an American hip hop trio composed of Michael Small (Mike Gee), Nathaniel Hall (Afrika Baby Bam), and Sammy Burwell (DJ Sammy B). Known as the pioneers of the fusion of jazz, hip-hop, and house music, they were the first hip-hop group to collaborate with a house-music producer. The trio released their debut album, '' Straight out the Jungle'' in July 1988. Their hip-house club hit single, "I'll House You" was added to the album in late-1988 reissues. De La Soul () is an American hip hop trio formed in 1988 in the Amityville area of Long Island, New York. ''Decksandrumsandrockandroll'' is the only studio album by English electronic music duo Propellerheads. It was originally released by Wall of Sound on 26 January 1998 in the United Kingdom. In the United States, it was released by DreamWorks Records with a different track listing. The album peaked at number 6 on the UK Albums Chart, as well as number 100 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. It was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 1998. As of 1999, it had sold 200,000 copies. "Take California" was selected by Apple for their iPod debut commercial in 2001. It features a man shaking his head while listening to the track on his Mac, then drags the song onto the device including his "Favorites" playlist. Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime.
