Mesters Vig
Mestersvig, also called Mesters Vig, is a military outpost located in Scoresby Land, on the southwestern shore of Davy Sound in King Christian X Land, NE Greenland. It has a 1,800 m gravel airstrip . This airport is located near the Stauning Alps mountainous area. History From 1956 to 1963, Mestersvig was a zinc and lead mine. Later Mestersvig used to be the only permanent station in the Northeast Greenland National Park but all of the 1986 population of 40 has been split up into the three newer Northeast Greenland National Park research stations (Danmarkshavn, Nord and Daneborg) except a permanent population of two people, although tourists visit the station occasionally. In September 2015, as part of the newest defence agreement to increase the enforcement of sovereignty in Greenland, Mission Mestersvig was executed. Nord, Greenland
Station Nord is a military and scientific station in northeastern Greenland 1700 km north of the Arctic Circle. It is about from the geographic North Pole, on Princess Ingeborg Peninsula ( da, Prinsesse Ingeborg Halvø) in northern Kronprins Christian Land, making it the second northernmost permanent settlement and base of the Northeast Greenland National Park and of Greenland as a whole (two stations in Peary Land further north, Brønlundhus and Kap Harald Moltke, are not permanently occupied). Danish Frogman Corps
The Frogman Corps ( da, Frømandskorpset) is the maritime special operations force of the Danish Defence part of Special Operations Command. On 1 July 2015, the Frogman Corps transferred from the Royal Danish Navy to the newly established Special Operations Command. HDMS ''Thetis'' is a ''Thetis''-class ocean patrol vessel belonging to the Royal Danish Navy. In mid-1990s the ship served as a platform for seismic operations in the waters near Greenland. Daneborg
Daneborg (or Daneborg Station) is a station on the south coast of Wollaston Foreland peninsula of northeast Greenland, at the mouth of Young Sund emptying into Greenland Sea. Daneborg serves as the headquarters for the SIRIUS Patrol, the dog sled patrollers of the Northeast Greenland National Park, the largest national park in the world. Danmarkshavn (Denmark's Harbour) is a small weather station located in Dove Bay, on the southern shore of the Germania Land Peninsula, in Northeast Greenland National Park, Greenland. History The location was chosen as a suitable winter harbor by the Denmark expedition in 1906 for their ship ''Danmark''. It became the main base of the expedition, from where sledge journeys and scientific observations were carried out. Description The permanent population of the base is six. Danmarkshavn is also known as the northernmost location on the coast of the Greenland Sea that non-icebreaking vessels can pass through. Scoresby Land
Scoresby Land is an area of Eastern Greenland, which lies partly in Sermersooq and partly in the Northeast Greenland National Park zone.
