Aender Naves Mesquita (commonly known as Aender, ; born 12 February 1983) is a former Brazilian-born Hong Kong professional footballer who currently plays as a midfielder for Hong Kong First Division League club Central & Western. Bruce Bueno de Mesquita (; born November 24, 1946) is a political scientist, professor at New York University, and senior fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution. Biography Bueno de Mesquita graduated from Stuyvesant High School in 1963, (along with Richard Axel and Alexander Rosenberg), earned his BA degree from Queens College, New York in 1967 and then his MA and PhD from the University of Michigan. He specializes in international relations, foreign policy, and nation building. He is one of the originators of selectorate theory, and was also the director of New York University's Alexander Hamilton Center for Political Economy from 2006 to 2016. Quintiliano H. de Mesquita (Quintiliano H. Guedes de Mesquita) (1918 – October 28, 2000), Brazilian physician and scientist, was born in João Pessoa, state of Paraíba. His parents were Odilon Martins de Mesquita, trader, and Nathália Guedes Pereira. Biography He obtained his degree of M.D. in 1939 at the Faculdade de Medicina do Recife, state of Pernambuco. In 1940 he moved to São Paulo where he made his specialization in cardiology at the Hospital Municipal de São Paulo under the direction of Dr. Dante Pazzanese, staying there as voluntary assistant giving annual lectures on arrythmias until 1949. Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita (6 June 1868 – 11 February 1944) was a Dutch graphic artist active in the years before the Second World War. His pupils included graphic artist M. C. Escher (1898–1972). A Sephardic Jew, in his old age he was sent to Auschwitz by the Nazis, where he was gassed along with his wife. After the war, de Mesquita was largely forgotten. Early life and education Samuel Jessurun de Mesquita was born on 6 June 1868 into a Jewish family living in Amsterdam. Though a member of a tightly knit Sephardic community, a minority among Dutch Jews, de Mesquita, like most of his contemporaries, was not religiously observant.
