Mesila Doda
Mesila Doda (born February 6, 1971, in Kukës) was one of the first members of the Democratic Party of Albania and a member of the Albanian parliament from 2001 until 2017. She has studied economics at the University of Tirana and philosophy in Rome. Doda started her political career in 1991, during the student protests that caused the change of regime in Albania. She has held different political positions and has also worked as a journalist and TV presenter. She joined the Democratic party in 1991, and left in 2016 through an open letter where she said that she regrets leaving the party, which she herself, together with other students and teachers created 25 years ago. The Parliament of Albania ( sq, Kuvendi i Shqipërisë) or Kuvendi is the unicameral representative body of the citizens of the Republic of Albania; it is Albania's legislature. The Parliament is composed of no less than 140 members elected to a four-year term on the basis of direct, universal, periodic and equal suffrage by secret ballot. The Parliament is presided over by the Speaker, who is assisted by at least one deputy speaker. The electoral system is based on party-list proportional representation. Cham Issue
The Cham issue refers to a controversy which has been raised by Albania since the 1990s over the repatriation of the Cham Albanians, who were expelled from the Greek region of Epirus between 1944 and 1945, at the end of World War II, citing the collaboration of the majority of them with the occupying forces of the Axis powers. "During World War II, it is likely that a majority of Chams supported the Axis forces..." While Albania believes that the issue should be re-opened, Greece considers the matter closed. Kukës ( sq-definite, Kukësi) is a city in the Republic of Albania. The city is the capital of the surrounding municipality of Kukës and county of Kukës, one of 12 constituent counties of the republic. It spans and had a total population of 16,719 people as of 2011.
