Mercy Edirisinghe
Donna Mercy Nalini Edirisinghe (18 December 1945 – 17 March 2014) was an actress in Sri Lankan, cinema, theater and television as well as a singer. She is also well known for her role in numerous comedic television shows and radio dramas, the most famous of which is a radio program titled 'Vinoda Samaya', in which she acts alongside Annesly Dias, Berty Gunattileke and Samuel Rodrigo. She began her singing career in 1964 with the 'Nawaka Madala' song contest and became a stage actress in 1966. Her most famous play was a musical by Lucien Bulathsinhala, titled ''Tharavo Igilethi''. Composed by Gunadasa Kapuge, "Made Lagina Tharawan" from the soundtrack of the play became her most successful single. Personal life She was born on 18 December 1945 in Wellahenawatte, Issanpita, Ambepussa as the third child in a family of nine siblings. Ambepussa
Ambepussa is a town in the Kegalle District, Sabaragamuwa Province, Sri Lanka. History The Ambepussa railway station, was the terminus station for the first rail passenger service, a ten-carriage train which departed Colombo Fort railway station on 22 October 1865. The first train however arrived at the station on 27 December 1864. Ambepussa is the site of the Heritage Ambepussa Hotel, previously the Ambepussa Resthouse, which is the country's oldest purpose built hostelry. Built in 1822 as the residence for the Public Works Department Executive Engineer, when the Colombo to Kandy road was being constructed. It was converted into a resthouse in 1828 and comprises a single-storey, seven room, Dutch-style bungalow with white circular columns. Shri (; , ) is a Sanskrit term denoting resplendence, wealth and prosperity, primarily used as an honorific. ''Sellam Nethnam Lellam'' ( si, සෙල්ලම් නැත්නම් ලෙල්ලම්, italic=yes) is a 2017 Sri Lankan Sinhala comedy, family film directed by Tissa Dias and co-produced by Mangala Madugalla and Piyumika Wijeratne for Sathjaya Films. It stars Jayasekara Aponso, and director Tissa Dias in lead roles along with Wimal Kumara de Costa and Mercy Edirisinghe. According to the producer Mangala Madugalla, the film finished its production four years ago, however with the competition to release the film, it took four years to screen the film. It is the 1286th Sri Lankan film in the Sinhala cinema. This is the last film of popular TV actor Srilal Abeykoon before his death on 16 April 2020.
