The Mercedes-Benz CL-Class, now called S-Class is a line of grand tourers which are produced by German automaker Mercedes-Benz, produced from 1992 to 2020. The name CL stands for the German language, German Coupé Luxusklasse (Coupé-Luxury). It is considered by Mercedes as their premier model. In 2015 Mercedes officially ceased using the CL-Class designation, returning the vehicle's name back to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class, S-Class Coupe/Convertible, replacing it with the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (C217), C217 S-Class Coupé. In an internal combustion engine, a supercharger compresses the intake gas, forcing more air into the engine in order to produce more power for a given displacement (engine), displacement. It is a form of forced induction that is mechanically powered (usually by a belt from the engine's crankshaft), as opposed to a turbocharger, which is powered by the kinetic energy of the exhaust gases. Bruno Sacco (12 November 1933 – 19 September 2024) was an Italian automobile designer and chief engineer, who served as the head of styling at the Daimler-Benz AG, the German manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz automobiles and trucks, from 1975 to 1999.
