Mentakab
Mentakab (alternately ''Mentekab'', Jawi: منتاكب, Pahang Malay: ''Mentekak'') is a town, a mukim (commune) and a state assembly constituency in Temerloh District in central Pahang, Malaysia. It is northwest from downtown Temerloh and northeast from Kuala Lumpur. History It was originally known as Pasir Rawa. In the late 19th century, Mentakab was a candidate for Pahang's new capital city, replacing Pekan. However, due to its mountainous terrain, Kuala Lipis was instead chosen as the capital of the state in 1898, later replaced by Kuantan in 1955. Transport Rail Mentakab has a railway station operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu. The railway station is on the East Coast Line of the KTM Intercity network, running from Gemas in Negeri Sembilan to Tumpat in Kelantan and goes through the railway station in Mentakab. Malaysia Federal Route 87
Federal Route 87, or Jalan Mentakab-Temerloh, is a main federal road in Pahang, Malaysia. The 15.6 km (9.1 mi) roads connects Mentakab until Temerloh. The roads was called Federal Route 2 before Mentakab-Temerloh Bypass was built in 1978. The Federal Route 2 is a major east–west oriented federal highway in Malaysia. The road connects Port Klang in Selangor to Kuantan Port in Pahang. The Federal Route 2 became the backbone of the road system linking the east and west coasts of Peninsula Malaysia before being surpassed by the East Coast Expressway E8. Temerloh
Temerloh is a municipality in central Pahang, Malaysia. Temerloh has been proven to be the "centre of Peninsular Malaysia" (Malay: ) 3TS, which is situated at Kampung Paya Siput, Lanchang. Located about from Kuala Lumpur along the Kuantan–Kuala Lumpur trunk road, Temerloh is the second largest town in Pahang after Kuantan, the state capital. It is situated at the junction of the Pahang River and the Semantan River. Today, ''Temerloh'' usually refers to the territory under the administration of Temerloh Municipal Council which includes Mentakab, Lanchang, Kuala Krau and Kerdau. The Mentakab railway station is a Malaysian train station stationed at and named after the town of Mentakab, Temerloh District, Pahang. KTM Intercity
KTM Intercity ( ms, KTM Antarabandar) are diesel-hauled intercity train services in Peninsular Malaysia, operated by Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB). Services operate along the East Coast Line between Tumpat and Gemas and on towards JB Sentral on the West Coast Line. The former Intercity services along the West Coast Line between Padang Besar in the north (and subsequent services to Thailand) and Gemas have been converted to the KTM ETS service. KTM Intercity has long enjoyed moderate success, but increasingly faces competition with road and air travel, as expressways (motorways) increase in number and budget airlines offer shorter travelling time. East Coast Line (Malaysia)
The East Coast railway line (ECRL) is the single track metre gauge runs between Gemas railway station, in Negeri Sembilan and Tumpat railway station, in Kelantan of Malaysia. Gemas is the rail junction between the West Coast line and East Coast railway line. Like the West Coast railway line, it is called the East Coast railway line (Malaysia) because it serves two of Peninsular Malaysia's East Coast states, namely Pahang and Kelantan. In fact, it does not run along the coast at all and only meets the South China Sea when it terminates in Tumpat railway station. Karak is a small town in Bentong District, Pahang, Malaysia. Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) (Jawi: كريتاڤي تانه ملايو برحد) or Malayan Railways Limited is the main rail operator in Peninsular Malaysia. The railway system dates back to the British colonial era, when it was first built to transport tin. Previously known as the Federated Malay States Railways (FMSR) and the Malayan Railway Administration (MRA), Keretapi Tanah Melayu acquired its current name in 1962.
