Menino Maluquinho
O Menino Maluquinho (''The Nutty Boy'') is a comic book and comic strip series created by Brazilian writer and cartoonist Ziraldo. It was based on the eponymous children's book published in 1980 which for many years was regarded as a classic of children's literature in Brazil, getting spun off into movies, plays and TV series. The comic books were published by Abril and Globo from 1989 until 2007. It was Ziraldo's second series of comic books, after "Turma do Pererê". The main character, "Maluquinho" is a cheerful and optimistic 10-year-old boy who wears a pan on his head like a hat. Most of the stories revolve around the misadventures of Maluquinho and his friends with a light humour. Ziraldo
Ziraldo Alves Pinto (born October 24, 1932), usually referred to mononymous person, mononymically as Ziraldo, is a Brazilian author, painter, comic creator, and journalist. His books have sold about ten million copies, have been translated to many foreign languages and adapted to the theater and cinema. His children's books, such as the popular ''O Menino Maluquinho'', have also been the basis of successful films and television series in Brazil. Biography Ziraldo first published his work when he was six years old, a year before he started going to school. This was a drawing printed in the newspaper ''A Folha de Minas'' in 1938. He began working at the newspaper ''Folha de S.Paulo'' in 1954, with a column dedicated to humor. Universo HQ ("Comics Universe") is a Brazilian website about comics and considered the most important Brazilian information source on comics-related news. History Universo HQ was created by Samir Naliato and first aired on January 5, 2000. After six months, he invited the journalist Sidney Gusman to become the website's editor. Gusman also invited Sérgio Codespoti and Marcelo Naranjo to work with them, followed by many different collaborators during the years. The first journalistic highlight to Universo HQ was in 2000, when artist Jerry Robinson had an infarction during a visit to São Paulo. The Universo HQ's coverture become the main source for the non-specialized press. Monica (Portuguese: ''Mônica'') is a Brazilian fictional character and Mauricio de Sousa's best-known creation. Introduced in 1963, she serves as the main protagonist and title character of the ''Monica and Friends'' (''Turma da Mônica'') comic book series and media franchise. De Sousa based the character on his second daughter, also named Monica, with whom the fictional character shares some physical characteristics. Prêmio Angelo Agostini (Angelo Agostini Award), sometimes also called Troféu Angelo Agostini (Angelo Agostini Trophy), is the most traditional comics award in Brazil. It was created in 1985 by the Associação dos Quadrinhistas e Caricaturistas do Estado de São Paulo (AQC-ESP), which still organizes the event today. The award's name pays homage to Angelo Agostini, considered at the time the pioneer artist of Brazilian comics.
