Bulimba Memorial Park
Bulimba Memorial Park is a heritage-listed park at 129 Oxford Street, Bulimba, Queensland, Australia. It was built from 1919 to 1980s. It is also known as Bulimba Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Park and Jamieson Park. It was added to the Queensland Heritage Register on 21 October 1992. History Part of Bulimba Memorial Park may have been established by the Balmoral Shire Council as early as , as Jamieson Park. Following the First World War (1914–18) it was opened officially on 1 November 1919 by Walter Barnes, Member of the Queensland Legislative Assembly as the Bulimba Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park, dedicated to Bulimba servicemen and women who had served in the Great War. Robert Jamieson was an early Bulimba farmer and the park is part of his subdivision of portion 7. Bulimba ratepayers had discussed the acquisition of part of Jamieson's land for a recreation ground as early as January 1888, when it was offered to them at a reduced price. Memorial Park, Hamilton
Hamilton East is a suburb in central Hamilton in New Zealand. The suburb's primary commercial and retail precinct is located along Grey Street. Hamilton East is characterised by villas and bungalows built early in the 20th century. History Hamilton East is one of Hamilton's oldest suburbs. From the 1870s until the mid-20th century, Hamilton East was sometimes known as 'Irishtown'. A significant number of the militiamen who settled there were of Irish descent, and many other Irish Catholics came to live near the Catholic Church and convent. The town of Hamilton East merged with Hamilton West in 1877. Many of the streets were named after famous figures of the New Zealand Wars, including Governor George Grey and Maori chief Te Awaitaia, who went by the name William Naylor/Wiremu Neera when he converted to Christianity. Tang Te-chang Memorial Park
The Tang Te-chang Memorial Park () is a memorial park in West Central District, Tainan, Taiwan to commemorate late lawyer Tang Te-chang. History Empire of Japan In 1907, local residents erected a statue of Kodama Gentarō, the fourth Governor-General of Taiwan, one year after his passing. The statue was imported to Taiwan from Kingdom of Italy in 1904 and shipped to Tainan in 1905. In 1911, the park became a traffic circle and the wall surrounding the park was torn down. In 1916, the park was named Kodama Park(児玉公園) and subsequently Taisho Park (大正公園). Republic of China After the handover of Taiwan from Japan to the Republic of China in 1945, the park was renamed Min Sheng Green Park. On 13 March 1947, lawyer Tang Te-chang was shot dead at the park as part of the February 28 Incident. Military Memorial Park
The Military Memorial Park () is a memorial park at Mount Tiezhan, Dajia District, Taichung, Taiwan. History The construction of the park began in July 1958 for its first stage in which the memorial hall was built. The second stage saw the completion of its water plant, electricity plant, pumping station and path for the cemetery. The final stage of the construction was the beautification of the park in which it was completed in April 1960 which included the various plantation of trees. The memorial hall was rebuilt and reopened in January 1987. In January 1996, the ''Taichung Military Cemetery'' was renamed to ''Taichung Military Martyrs' Shrine''. Green Island White Terror Memorial Park
The Green Island White Terror Memorial Park () is a memorial park in Green Island, Taitung County, Taiwan to commemorate the victims of the White Terror. History The area used to be the shelter area during the Japanese rule. After martial law in Taiwan was declared in May 1949, many political dissidents were imprisoned on Green Island at Taiwan Lyudao Prison by the government which was built in 1951. Over time, the prisons came to symbolize political suppression. In February 1970, Taiyuan Incident took place as one of an attempt for Taiwan independence movement. Soon the Ministry of National Defense constructed the second prison. Upon its completion, the ministry transferred all of political prisoners throughout Taiwan to this new prison named the Institute of Reform and Training, which was then later renamed to Oasis Villa. The Chiang Wei-shui Memorial Park () is a memorial park in Datong District, Taipei, Datong District, Taipei, Taiwan. The park commemorates Chiang Wei-shui. History The park was originally named as Jinxi Park. It was then renamed and rededicated by the Taipei City Government to commemorate Chiang's efforts in promoting democracy and development of Taiwan on 5 August 2006 in conjunction with the 75th anniversary of Chiang's death in a ceremony attended by Vice President of the Republic of China, Vice President Annette Lu, Premier of the Republic of China, Premier Su Tseng-chang and Mayor of Taipei, Taipei Mayor Ma Ying-jeou. Barclay Memorial Park
The Barclay Memorial Park () is a memorial park in Chongming Village, East District, Tainan, Taiwan. Name The park was named after Thomas Barclay, a British missionary to Taiwan in 1875–1935. History In 1993, the park area was actually designed to be Park No. 18 by Tainan City Government in which the city government should carry out the construction project within the same year. However, due to land ownership disputes between Tainan City and Tainan County, the land failed to be developed which caused the park to remain idle since then. After a decade without proper management, the park was flooded with wild plants and trashes, which eventually turned out to be a landfill. In 2001, the chief of Chongming Village had an idea of rejuvenate the park area and turn it into a beautiful park. October in Kragujevac Memorial Park ( sr, italic=yes, Spomen-park „Kragujevački oktobar", Спомен-парк „Крагујевачки октобар"), also known as Šumarice Memorial Park (''Memorijalni park Šumarice'', Меморијални парк Шумарице), is the site near Kragujevac, Serbia of the execution of an estimated 2,800 men and boys of the town by the German occupation forces on October 21, 1941, during World War II (Kragujevac massacre). Memorial Park is a venue for football matches in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. It is the home of Petone FC who have been based there since 1961 as well as Capital Football who look after the game for the Wellington Region. The ground was also the training base and home ground for the National Women's team Capital Football who play in New Zealand's highest level domestic competition, the National Women's League. It was the first ground in Wellington to have a fully floodlit training pitch which was established in 1979. In 2012, Capital Football, New Zealand Football and Hutt City Council announced that Memorial Park would get an artificial pitch with the aim of making the ground the 'Home of Football' for the Wellington Region. Memorial Park, Palmerston North
Memorial Park is a multi-use stadium in Palmerston North, New Zealand. It is currently used mostly for football matches and was the home stadium of YoungHeart Manawatu before they disbanded. The stadium has a capacity of 8,000 people. The stadium hosted the final of the 2011 Chatham Cup on 28 August 2011.
