The Parliament of Malaysia ( ms, Parlimen Malaysia) is the national legislature of Malaysia, based on the Westminster system. The bicameral parliament consists of the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives, Literal translation, lit. "People's Assembly") and the Dewan Negara (Senate, Literal translation, lit. "State Assembly"). The Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King), as the head of state, is the third component of Parliament. The Parliament assembles in the Malaysian Houses of Parliament, located in the national capital city of Kuala Lumpur. The term "Member of Parliament (MP)" usually refers to a member of the Dewan Rakyat, the lower house of the Parliament. Fadzil Mahmood (1937 – 9 June 2010) was a Malaysian politician who served as the Speaker of the Perlis State Assembly from 9 September 1986 until 4 October 1990 during the administration of Abdul Hamid Pawanteh Abdul Hamid bin Pawanteh (27 July 1944 – 1 December 2022) was a Malaysian politician. He was the President of the Malaysian Senate from 2003 to 2009, Deputy Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives from 1984 to 1986, and was the C ... as Menteri Besar of Perlis. He represented Utan Aji in the assembly. Fadzil also served as a state executive councillor from 1990 to 1995. Fadzil's wife, Datin Fatimah Ismail, died on 6 May 2010, at the age of 71. He was soon after admitted to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital for a heart ailment on 2 June 2010. Fadzil returned home from the hospital on 8 June.
