Fadzil Mahmood
Fadzil Mahmood (1937 – 9 June 2010) was a Malaysian politician who served as the Speaker of the Perlis State Assembly from 9 September 1986 until 4 October 1990 during the administration of Abdul Hamid Pawanteh Abdul Hamid bin Pawanteh (27 July 1944 – 1 December 2022) was a Malaysian politician. He represented Utan Aji in the assembly. Fadzil also served as a state executive councillor from 1990 to 1995. Fadzil's wife, Datin Fatimah Ismail, died on 6 May 2010, at the age of 71. He was soon after admitted to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital for a heart ailment on 2 June 2010. Fadzil returned home from the hospital on 8 June. Speaker (politics)
The speaker of a deliberative assembly, especially a legislative body, is its presiding officer, or the chair. The title was first used in 1377 in England. Usage The title was first recorded in 1377 to describe the role of Thomas de Hungerford in the Parliament of England.Lee Vol 28, pp. 257,258. The speaker's official role is to moderate debate, make rulings on procedure, announce the results of votes, and the like. The speaker decides who may speak and has the powers to discipline members who break the procedures of the chamber or house. By convention, speakers are normally addressed in Parliament as 'Mister Speaker', if a man, or 'Madam Speaker', if a woman. Abdul Hamid Pawanteh
Abdul Hamid bin Pawanteh (27 July 1944 – 1 December 2022) was a Malaysian politician. He was the President of the Malaysian Senate from 2003 to 2009, Deputy Speaker of the Malaysian House of Representatives from 1984 to 1986, and was the Chief Minister of the State of Perlis from 1986 to 1995. He held these offices as a member of the United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), the leading party in Malaysia's ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition. Abdul Hamid was born on 27 July 1944 in Penang. and received secondary education at Penang Free School. He received his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree in 1973 from Dow Medical College. Perlis
Perlis, ( Northern Malay: ''Peghelih''), also known by its honorific title Perlis Indera Kayangan, is the smallest state in Malaysia by area and population. Located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, it borders the Thai provinces of Satun and Songkhla to the north and the Malaysian state of Kedah to the south. Kangar ( Northern Malay: ''Kangaq''; Jawi: كڠار) is the state capital and the largest town in Perlis, Malaysia. It has a population of 48,898 and an area of 2,619.4 ha.
