Melodifestivalen 2003
Melodifestivalen 2003 was the selection for the 43rd song to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest. It was the 42nd time that this system of picking a song had been used. Five heats had taken place to select the ten songs for the final, in Jönköping, Gothenburg, Luleå, Sundsvall and a Second Chance round in Stockholm. The final was broadcast on SVT1 and Sveriges Radio's P4 network. The show was watched by 1,230,751 people. Schedule Heats The heats for Melodifestivalen 2003 began on 15 February 2003. Ten songs from these heats qualified for the final on March 15, 2003. This was the second year that a heat format had been used for the competition. "När löven faller" composed by Carola Häggkvist and Ingemar Åberg was disqualified prior to the competition. P4 (''pe fyra'') is a national radio channel produced by the Swedish public broadcaster Sveriges Radio. P4 was started in 1987 as a network of regional stations, but national programming was added in 1993 when P3 was relaunched as a specialist youth channel and P4 took over a large part of P3's former programming intended for a more adult audience. Programming Targeted at an across-the-board audience, but with the emphasis on older listeners, it is the corporation's most popular radio channel, presenting popular music, entertainment, and sport. On weekdays most of the daytime schedule comes from 25 different regional stations, each producing programming (including local news coverage) for their own areas, while in the evenings and at weekends the channel carries national programming. Da Buzz is a Swedish Eurodance/pop music group. Members of the group are writers/producers Per Lidén and Pier Schmid and lead-singer Annika Thörnquist. All three are from Karlstad. The band has had a successful career in their native Sweden, with a career spanning seven years, five albums, and 15 hit singles. They have reached #1 twice in their homeland; in 2003 with "Alive" and in 2006 with " Last Goodbye". Jill Johnson
Jill Anna Maria Johnson (born 24 May 1973) is a Swedish country and pop singer, songwriter and TV-host. She performed in the Melodifestivalen 1998 contest, winning with the song "Kärleken är" ("Love Is"), and represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 1998 with that song, which finished 10th with 53 points. Jesse Martin, OAM (born 26 August 1981), is a German-Australian sailor who in 1999 became the youngest person to circumnavigate the globe solo, non-stop and unassisted, Martin's journey in the S&S 34 sloop ''Lionheart-Mistral'' took approximately 11 months. Leopoldo Jorge Méndez Alcayaga (born 21 July 1975 in Valparaíso) is a Chilean-Swedish DJ, singer and producer, known by his stage name Méndez, formerly DJ Méndez.
