Mellowdrone
Mellowdrone is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1999. Biography Mellowdrone originated as Jonathan Bates' solo project, but expanded to a full band with Tony DeMatteo (guitar and keyboards), Scott Ellis (drums) and Greg Griffith (bass). Griffith and Ellis were later replaced by Camila Gutierrez and Brian Borg respectively. The band's music encompasses a range of styles from lo-fi, indie rock and experimental. Their debut album, ''Box'', was released in 2006 on Columbia Records. Shortly after, Gutierrez formed Uh Huh Her and left Mellowdrone. The band continued as a three-piece, with Bates taking over as bassist. Their follow-up album, ''Angry Bear,'' was released in 2009 on Coming Home Records. Mellowdrone's music has appeared on several television shows, including '' Project Runway'', '' Six Feet Under'', and ''Cane''. Camila Grey is an American musician. As of 2023, she is currently playing keyboards for Morrissey and is also part of the duo Rogues with actor Luke Brandon Field. She has played keyboards for pop vocalist Adam Lambert. She's also part of the supergroup Summer Moon composed of Nikolai Fraiture (The Strokes), Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction), and Noah Harmon ( Airborne Toxic Event), and plays keyboards for Minke. Grey was formerly the bassist and keyboardist for the band Mellowdrone as well as the half of the duo Uh Huh Her with Leisha Hailey. Big Black Delta
Big Black Delta is a solo project by Mellowdrone vocalist/bassist Jonathan Bates. History Bates began the project in 2010, after becoming frustrated with the logistics of a band. Thanks to help from Alessandro Cortini of Nine Inch Nails, he discovered the possibilities of producing music on a laptop and set about building a new sound. In 2013, Bates released his debut album, '' Big Black Delta'', which contained a mix of fresh material and songs released on an early-release, limited-edition of the record, titled ''BBDLP1''. The album was issued on Bates' own label, Masters of Bates, and was inspired by the soundtracks of the films ''Blade Runner'' and ''Solaris''. It was positively received by critics and was compared by one reviewer to music from Muse and the Joy Formidable.
