Modwheelmood (also typeset as ModWheelMood or modwheelmood and abbreviated as MWM) is an American Electronic-Alternative band from Los Angeles, California formed by Alessandro Cortini (who is also part of the Nine Inch Nails live lineup from 2005 to 2008 and more recently in 2013) and former Abandoned Pools guitarist Pelle Hillström in 1998."modwheelmood – Band bio"

History

Modwheelmood formed in 1998, initially as a project entitled Gift?, which later developed into a full music project after Cortini's experimentation with "heavy loops and haunting synth passes integrated with melodic songwriting" and through collaboration with Hillström. Modwheelmood are named after the mod wheel, a controller typically mounted on the left hand of the keyboard.

Alessandro Cortini
Alessandro Cortini (born 24 May 1976) is an Italian musician best known for being the keyboard, guitar, and bass player in the industrial band Nine Inch Nails. Cortini is also the frontman for the Los Angeles-based electronic-alternative band SONOIO. He was a touring member of The Mayfield Four from 2000 to 2002. He was also a founding member of Modwheelmood, an electronic/alternative band from Los Angeles, with former Abandoned Pools guitarist Pelle Hillström. He completed a small Canadian tour with his solo project, blindoldfreak. Background Cortini was born in Bologna, and raised in Forlì. Cortini moved from Italy to the United States to study guitar at the Musicians Institute. After graduating, and straying away from the guitar, he decided to focus on keyboards and synths. From 2001 to 2002, Cortini acted as touring guitarist for The Mayfield Four in support of their album '' Second Skin''. Pelle Hillström
Pelle Sebastian Hillstrom is a Swedish music artist and songwriter from Jarbo, Gävleborg County. He is known for his work with Alessandro Cortini of Nine Inch Nails in Modwheelmood, Early life His pursuit of music began early, playing saxophone in jazz orchestras in the afternoon and learning to play Iron Maiden songs in the evenings. Eventually, his desire to play music for a living led him to the United States where he quickly worked his way into the Los Angeles music scene. Musical Collaborations Hillstrom met Nine Inch Nails keyboardist Alessandro Cortini in early 2000. The two began an intense collaboration, forming electro rock act Modwheelmood. The duo released their debut EP, Enemies & Immigrants, on Buddyhead records to critical acclaim. Their busy schedules hindered touring at that time but they have since built an impressive following of loyal fans. SONOIO
SONOIO is a solo project of Italian musician Alessandro Cortini, best known as the keyboardist for Nine Inch Nails' touring lineup and as a member of Modwheelmood. The name of the alternative rock/electronic project comes from the Italian phrase "sono io", which means "it's me". Career On July 28, 2010, SONOIO released four tracks for free from its upcoming album. The first album, ''Blue'', was released in its entirety on September 14, 2010. Ladytron are a largely British electronic band formed in Liverpool in 1999. The group consists of Helen Marnie (lead vocals, synthesizers), Mira Aroyo (vocals, synthesizers), Daniel Hunt (synthesizers, guitar, vocals), and Reuben Wu (synthesizers).
