Brynjar Meling
Brynjar Nielsen Meling (born 29 May 1967) is a Norwegian lawyer. Personal life Meling is married and have four children. He usually votes for the Conservative Party, but voted blank in 2003 as a result of the party joining the other parties in demanding to repatriate Mullah Krekar. He was a Salvation Army soldier until 2003 when he withdrew to not become a burden for the organisation as a result of his work as a lawyer, defending controversial figures. Career He became famous overnight after being appointed as the public defender of Mullah Krekar, and has since also worked on a number of other high-profile cases, mainly cases directly targeted against Norwegian commercial and political interests. He is noted for especially defending immigrants and Muslims suspected for various criminal offences. Birger Solberg Meling (born 17 December 1994) is a Norwegian professional footballer who plays as a left-back for club Rennes. Club career Early career After playing youth football for Viking and Middlesbrough, Meling joined Stabæk before the 2014 season. He made his senior league debut in September 2014 in a 3–0 defeat against Aalesund. In February 2017, he signed for Rosenborg. Nîmes In July 2020, Meling joined Nîmes on a three-year contract. The transfer fee paid to Rosenborg was less than €1 million. On his Ligue 1 debut on the season's first matchday, he contributed an assist and a goal in Nîmes's 4–0 win against Brest. Andreas Meling
Andreas Meling (22 September 1839 – 8 August 1928) was a Norwegian ship owner and politician. Biography He was born in Sola, Norway, Sole as a son of bailiff Enok Torgersen and Elen Røgh Skavlan. In 1864 he married Lina Monsen, whose brother was a locally known painter and sister married Peter Hærem. Meling was a shipmaster for much of his career, until 1881. He served as Mayor of Stavanger from 1893. He was elected to the Parliament of Norway in 1894 Norwegian parliamentary election, 1894, after having previously served as a deputy representative. He was decorated as a Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 1896. References
