Melbourne Tram Route 8
Melbourne tram route 8 was operated by Yarra Trams on the Melbourne tram network from Moreland to Toorak. The 15.7 kilometre route was operated out of Brunswick and Malvern depots with Z, B and D1 class trams. It ceased on 30 April 2017 and was replaced by routes route 6 and route 58. History Route 8 started on 17 October 2004, when the old route 8, which had been running between Melbourne University and Toorak merged with route 22 which had been running between Moreland and Arts Precinct. In February 2015, Yarra Trams released plans to build a centre platform at Toorak, 100 metres west of the existing terminus. The work was completed in December 2015. On 30 April 2017 as part of works associated with the closure of Domain Interchange and construction of Anzac railway station, route 8 ceased. D-class Melbourne Tram
The D-class Melbourne tram is a fleet of low-floor Combino trams that operate on the Melbourne tram network. They were built by Siemens in Uerdingen, Krefeld, Germany, and are divided into two classes: the three section D1-class which was introduced between 2002 and 2004, and the five section D2-class which was introduced in 2004. The D-class was procured by M>Tram and have been operated by Yarra Trams since they took control of the entire tram network in April 2004. Melbourne Tram Route 58
Melbourne tram route 58 is operated by Yarra Trams on the Melbourne tram network from West Coburg to Toorak. The 18.0 kilometre route is operated out of Essendon and Southbank depots with Z, B and E class trams. History Route 58 was introduced on 1 May 2017 as part of a restructure of the Yarra Trams network to facilitate the closure of Domain Interchange and the construction of Anzac railway station. It replaced route 55 in its entirety from West Coburg to Domain Interchange and the southern part of route 8 from Domain Interchange to Toorak. The origins of the lines traversed by route 58 lies in separate tram lines. Myki
Myki ( ), stylised as myki, is a reloadable credit card-sized contactless smart card ticketing system used for electronic payment of fares on most public transport services in Melbourne and regional Victoria, Australia. Myki replaced the Metcard ticketing system and became fully operational at the end of 2012. The system was developed by Kamco (Keane Australia Micropayment Consortium) and is used by Public Transport Victoria. Melbourne Tram Route 19
Melbourne tram route 19 is operated by Yarra Trams on the Melbourne tram network from Coburg North to Flinders Street station. The 10.2 kilometre route is operated out of Brunswick depot with B and D2 class trams. History Route 19 was first allocated to the line between Coburg North and the City terminus at Elizabeth Street opposite Flinders Street station on 26 April 1936 following the electrification of the Brunswick cable tram line. Prior to that, Sydney Road trams would run via Moreland Road to Swanston Street and the southern suburbs. Victoria Street, Melbourne
Victoria Street is one of the major thoroughfares of inner Melbourne, running east–west for over six kilometres between Munster Terrace in North Melbourne and the Yarra River. The road is known as Victoria Parade for over one-and-a-half kilometres of its length (between the prominent intersections of Spring Street and Hoddle Street), distinguishable with a wide reservation and tramway down the middle. Victoria Street touches the north-east corner of the Hoddle Grid at the intersection of Latrobe Street and Spring Street, opposite the Carlton Gardens. Route 55 was a tram route on the Melbourne tram network. The 12.5 kilometre route operated between Coburg West and Domain Interchange, was operated out of Essendon depot with Z and B-class trams. It ceased on 30 April 2017 and was replaced by route 58. History Proposals for a tram or railway route to West Coburg date to the late 19th century. Construction of the tramway began in 1923, initially only to Brunswick West, then extended to Bell Street in 1927. The tramway was extended south to St Kilda Road during World War II to alleviate congestion during the war. Proposed extensions north of Bell Street have not been constructed. Public Transport Victoria (PTV) is the brand name for public transport in the Australian state of Victoria, Australia, Victoria. Anzac Railway Station
Anzac railway station (originally known by the working title of Domain) is a railway station currently under construction as part of the Metro Tunnel. The station is named for the nearby Shrine of Remembrance and in honour of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps, Anzac spirit of service and sacrifice. It is being built using the Tunnel#Cut-and-cover, cut-and-cover method. Construction on the station commenced in 2018 and is expected to open in 2025. Location Anzac station is being built below St Kilda Road in the suburb of South Yarra, and is planned to feature four entrances.
