Mel Chionglo
Carmelo Chionglo (July 16, 1946 – September 21, 2019), better known as Mel Chionglo, was a Filipino film director and production designer. He has directed more than 40 films since 1981. From 1966 to 1976, he worked and studied acting and directing at the New York Academy of Theatrical Arts. Returning to Manila, he worked as production designer. His directorial debut was Regal Films' ''Playgirl'' (1981). He was one of the founding members of the Directors’ Guild of the Philippines Inc. He also served as board member on the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board. Career Chionglo began working in the film industry as production designer on such films as Mike de Leon's ''The Rites of May'', Lino Brocka's ''Mother, Sister, Daughter'', and Eddie Romero's ''Aguila''. Lucena, Philippines
Lucena, officially the City of Lucena ( fil, Lungsod ng Lucena), is a 1st class Cities of the Philippines#Legal classification, highly urbanized city in the Calabarzon region of the Philippines. Dolores Marquez Clark, better known by her screen name Lolita Rodriguez (January 29, 1935 – November 28, 2016), was a multi-awarded actress in the Philippines. Burlesk King
''Burlesk King'' is the second film in the gay-themed trilogy of Mel Chionglo and Ricky Lee about the lives of macho dancers, men who work as strippers in Manila's gay bars. The first is '' Sibak: Midnight Dancers''; the third is ''Twilight Dancers''. Other films exploring the same theme are Lino Brocka's ''Macho Dancer'' (1988) and Brillante Mendoza's '' Masahista'' (''The Masseur'', 2005). Plot Harry went to Manila with his friend James to exact vengeance on his abusive father who used to pimp him and killed his mother. Intramuros
Intramuros (Latin for "inside the walls") is the historic walled area within the city of Manila, the capital of the Philippines. 50th Berlin International Film Festival
The 50th annual Berlin International Film Festival was held from February 9 to 20, 2000. The festival opened with ''The Million Dollar Hotel'' by Wim Wenders. '' Bossa Nova'' by Bruno Barreto, screened out of competition was the closing film of the festival. The Golden Bear was awarded to American film ''Magnolia'' directed by Paul Thomas Anderson. Ricky Lee
Ricardo Lee (born as March 19, 1948) is a Filipino screenwriter, journalist, novelist, and playwright. He was conferred the Order of National Artists of the Philippines for Film and Broadcast Arts in 2022. Starting in 1973, he has written more than 180 film screenplays. Aside from the Order of National Artists, which is the Philippines' highest recognition for individuals who have contributed significantly to the classical arts, his work has earned him more than 70 trophies from various award-giving bodies.
