Meisi Bolaños
Meisi Bolaños Weiss (born 27 May 1970) is a Cuban politician and was the Cuban Minister of Finances and Prices from 2019 to 2023. Education and career She has a law degree. She graduated from the University of Havana in 1993 and also studied financial administration. She was legal director of the Ministry of Finances and Prices from 2005 to April 2007. She was appointed deputy minister of finance and prices from April 2007 to 2019. On 8 January 2019, she was appointed Minister of Finances and Prices, and has recently worked with price stability. The Ministry of Finance and Prices of Cuba is responsible for managing the public finances of Cuba, including budget, tax, treasury, price and public credit policies. History The organization was called Ministry of Finance from 1902 to 1965. Between 1965 and 1976, the ministry was abolished and its functions passed to the Central Bank of Cuba. Between 1976 and 1994, these functions were transferred to the State Finance Committee. Finally, in 1994, the State Finance Committee merged with the State Price Committee to form the current Ministry of Finance and Prices. The Communist Party of Cuba ( es, Partido Comunista de Cuba, PCC) is the sole ruling party of Cuba. It was founded on 3 October 1965 as the successor to the United Party of the Cuban Socialist Revolution, which was in turn made up of the 26th of July Movement and Popular Socialist Party that seized power in Cuba after the 1959 Cuban Revolution. The party governs Cuba as an authoritarian one-party state where dissidence and political opposition are prohibited and repressed. The Cuban constitution ascribes the role of the party to be the " leading force of society and of the state". The highest body within the PCC is the Party Congress, which convenes every five years.
