Cusco Region
Cusco, also spelled Cuzco (; qu, Qusqu suyu ), is a department and region in Peru and is the fourth largest department in the country, after Madre de Dios, Ucayali, and Loreto. It borders the departments of Ucayali on the north; Madre de Dios and Puno on the east; Arequipa on the south; and Apurímac, Ayacucho and Junín on the west. La Convención Province
La Convención Province is the largest of thirteen provinces in the Cusco Region in the southern highlands of Peru. As part of the higher-altitude Amazon basin at the foot of the Andes, La Convención is one of three Peruvian provinces that prominently figure in national coffee production, the other being Chanchamayo province in Junín state and Jaén province in Cajamarca state. Geography The La Convención Province is bounded to the north by the Junín Region and the Ucayali Region, to the east by the Madre de Dios Region, to the south by the Anta Province, the Calca Province and the Urubamba Province, and to the west by the Ayacucho Region and the Apurímac Region. Echarate District
Echarate District (or Echarati) is one of fourteen districts of the province La Convención in Peru. The town of Echarte, near the Urubamba River, is the capital of the district. Protected areas or conservation areas are locations which receive protection because of their recognized natural, ecological or cultural values. There are several kinds of protected areas, which vary by level of protection depending on the enabling laws of each country or the regulations of the international organizations involved. Megantoni District, La Convención Province
Megantoni District is one of fourteen districts of La Convención Province in the Cusco Region of Peru. Megantoni occupies the northernmost part of La Convención. The district was created in 2016 from land previously belonging to Echarate District. Camisea is the capital of Megantoni and has a population of about 500 people. As of 2017, the district was not connected to the rest of Peru by road. The Urubamba River bisects the district and is a major avenue of transportation. Protected and indigenous lands Ninety-four percent of the land of Megantoni is protected for conservation or allocated to indigenous people. Peruvian Yungas
The Peruvian Yungas is a tropical and subtropical moist broadleaf forest ecoregion in the Yungas of Peru. Setting The Peruvian Yungas occur on the eastern slopes and valleys of the Peruvian Andes. They form a transition zone between the Southwest Amazon moist forests and Ucayali moist forests at lower elevations to the east and the Central Andean puna and wet puna at higher elevations to the west. Climate The climate in this ecoregion varies from a tropical rainforest climate in the north to a subtropical highland climate in the south. Precipitation ranges from per year.
