Meees
''Meees'' (Welsh for ''Baaas'', as in the sound of bleating sheep) is a Welsh-language children's television show from Wales. It is about a family of multicultural opera-singing sheep, played by performers in sheep costumes. It is shown on S4C, the Welsh equivalent of Channel 4. 52 episodes over two series of the 15-minute show have been made. Characters The family run their own recycling plant from their home at Acropolis Cottage, and are headed by Costaaas, a male sheep from Greece, who is married to Baaalwen, a black Welsh ewe,(played by Tamsin Heatley) whom he supposedly met in a Milanese choir. The couple live with their daughter Meeegan, her husband Meeelvyn, and their twins called Jaaason and Meeedea (named after the Greek mythological figures Jason and Medea, who also feature in opera). Huw Ceredig
Huw Ceredig Jones (22 June 1942 – 16 August 2011) was a Welsh actor, best known for portraying Reg Harries in the Welsh-language soap opera ''Pobol y Cwm''. Early life Huw Ceredig was born in Brynamman, Carmarthenshire, in 1942, the son of Reverend Gerallt Jones, and Elizabeth J. Griffiths, a Welsh teacher. Ceredig was educated at Llandovery College, where one of his teachers was the Welsh rugby player and coach Carwyn James, before going on to train as a teacher at Trinity College in Carmarthen. He was a member of the renowned Cilie family of poets, and was raised in Llanuwchllyn. Ceredig was the brother of Welsh politician Alun Ffred Jones, folk singer/politician Dafydd Iwan, and Arthur Morus. Ceredig re-mortgaged his house to purchase instruments for the new Welsh band Edward H. Dafis and introduced them to the stage for the first time at the Welsh National Eisteddfod in Ruthin in 1973. Welsh ( or ) is a Celtic language family, Celtic language of the Brittonic languages, Brittonic subgroup that is native to the Welsh people. Sali Mali is a popular Welsh children's book and television character, originally created by author Mary Vaughan Jones and illustrated by Rowena Wyn Jones during the 1960s and 1970s. Fireman Sam
''Fireman Sam'' (Welsh: ') is a Welsh animated children's television series about a fireman named Sam, his fellow firefighters, and other residents in the fictional Welsh rural village of Pontypandy (a portmanteau of two real towns, Pontypridd and Tonypandy). The original idea for the show came from two ex-firemen from London, England, who took their idea to artist and writer Rob Lee who developed the concept, and the show was commissioned. ''Fireman Sam'' first appeared on S4C on 1 November 1987, and a few weeks later on BBC1 on 17 November. Paddy Kingsland (born 30 January 1947) is a composer of electronic music best known for his incidental music for science fiction series on BBC radio and television whilst working at the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. Educated at Eggar's Grammar School in Alton, Hampshire, he joined the BBC as a tape editor before moving on to become a studio manager for BBC Radio 1. In 1970 he joined the Radiophonic Workshop where he remained until 1981. His initial work was mostly signature tunes for BBC radio and TV programmes before going on to record incidental music for programmes including '' The Changes'', two versions of ''The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'' (the second radio series and the TV adaptation), as well as several serials of ''Doctor Who''. Ian Peter Cullimore (born 6 April 1962) is an English musician, journalist and actor. He played guitar, between 1983 and 1988, for the Hull-based indie rock band The Housemartins. Early life He was born in Stapleford, Cambridgeshire. He moved to Birmingham, where he went to school at King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Boys, a state grammar school. His father was a university lecturer, and his mother was a piano teacher. He took a gap year. He studied Maths at the University of Hull from 1980, graduating in 1984. The Housemartins were an English indie rock group formed in Hull who were active in the 1980s and charted three top-ten albums and six top-twenty singles in the UK. Many of their lyrics conveyed a mixture of socialist politics and Christianity, reflecting the beliefs of the band (the back cover of their debut album, ''London 0 Hull 4'', contained the message, "Take Jesus – Take Marx – Take Hope").
