Medija Thermal Spa
The Medija Thermal Spa ( sl, Medijske toplice) is a spa located in the town of Izlake in central Slovenia. It was established in 1877 by the local businessman Alojz Prašnikar, although thermal baths at the location were already mentioned by Johann Weikhard von Valvasor in his ''The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola'' in the 17th century. In the second half of the 20th century, the complex has gradually been expanded: today's spa consists of a hotel, an indoor swimming pool and an outdoor swimming pool complex. 
Since 2009, both the hotel and the outdoor swimming pool complex are closed and have been subject to rapid deterioration, caused by a lack of maintenance and vandalism, as well as weather-caused damage, mainly 2010 Slovenia floods, flooding in 2010. In 2013, a civil initiative starte ...

Izlake
Izlake (; german: Islak''Leksikon občin kraljestev in dežel zastopanih v državnem zboru,'' vol. 6: ''Kranjsko''. 1906. Vienna: C. Kr. Dvorna in Državna Tiskarna, p. 94.) is a settlement in the Municipality of Zagorje ob Savi in the Central Sava Valley, central Slovenia. The area is part of the traditional region of Upper Carniola. It is now included with the rest of the municipality in the Central Sava Statistical Region. Tourism Izlake is best known for the currently (as of July 2010) defunct Medijske Toplice thermal baths and has been the tourism centre of the region. Johann Weikhard Von Valvasor
Johann Weikhard Freiherr von Valvasor or Johann Weichard Freiherr von Valvasor ( sl, Janez Vajkard Valvasor, ) or simply Valvasor (baptised on 28 May 1641 – September or October 1693) was a natural historian and polymath from Carniola, present-day Slovenia, and a fellow of the Royal Society in London. He is known as a pioneer of study of karst studies. Together with his other writings, until the late 19th century his best-known work—the 1689 '' Glory of the Duchy of Carniola'', published in 15 books in four volumes—was the main source for older Slovenian history, making him one of the precursors of modern Slovenian historiography. ''The Glory of the Duchy of Carniola'' (german: Die Ehre deß Hertzogthums Crain, sl, Slava vojvodine Kranjske) is an encyclopedia published in Nuremberg in 1689 by the polymath Johann Weikhard von Valvasor. It is the most important work on his homeland, the Duchy of Carniola, the present-day central part of Slovenia. Content Written in New High German, the anthology was published in four volumes, subdivided into 15 books with 3,552 large-format pages and 24 annexes. It was lavishly illustrated with 528 copperplate engravings. The work refers to history, geography, topography, medicine, biology, geology, theology, customs and folklore of the Carniolan region that makes up a large part of present-day Slovenia. 2010 Slovenia Floods
The 2010 Slovenia floods, on the weekend of 17–19 September 2010, were caused by heavy rains in Slovenia, resulting in one of the worst floods in the country's history. Among the regions affected were the capital Ljubljana, the Central Sava Valley, Laško, the Slovene Littoral and Lower Carniola. Initial damage was estimated to reach €15 million. Three people died. In Ljubljana, the river Gradaščica – together with the Mali Graben stream – flooded several parts of the Vič District, and record water levels were reached. Several transformers were shut down to prevent accidents, leaving some 3,000 people without electricity.
