Medicine Hat Cubs
The Medicine Hat Cubs are a Canadian Junior B ice hockey team located in Medicine Hat, Alberta. They play in the Heritage Junior B Hockey League, from the Medicine Hat Kinplex. History The Cubs were founded in 1973 into the Heritage Junior B Hockey League. In their fifth year, 1977–78, they won the league championship for the first time, repeating as champions the next season. In the 1980s and 90s the Cubs won the league championship again in 1980–81, 85–86, 87–88, 90–91, 91–92, 92–93, 94–95, 95–96, 99–00 and 00–01. In this time two Cubs players went on to play in the National Hockey League ( Blaine Lacher and Murray Craven) Since the 2001 season the Cubs have more or less struggled compared to former seasons, including some highly rough recent years. Medicine Hat is a city in southeast Alberta, Canada. It is located along the South Saskatchewan River. It is approximately east of Lethbridge and southeast of Calgary. This city and the adjacent Town of Redcliff to the northwest are within Cypress County. Medicine Hat was the sixth-largest city in Alberta in 2016 with a population of 63,230. The Cannex Cochrane Generals are a Junior "B" Ice Hockey team based in Cochrane, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the South Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League (HJHL). They will play their home games at the SLS Centre for the 2023-2024 season. History The Cannex Cochrane Generals played in the CAJHL before the HJHL, in the CAJHL they were the 1988-89 South Division Champions. They are the 2007-08 and 2008-09 HJHL Champions. Coaldale Copperheads
The Coaldale Copperheads are a Junior "B" Ice Hockey team based in Coaldale, Alberta, Canada. They are members of the South Division of the Heritage Junior B Hockey League (HJHL). They play their home games at Coaldale Arena. The 2014-15 season saw the Copperheads win their first HJHL championship and went on to Hockey Alberta Provincials. Keystone Cup
The Keystone Cup is the Junior B ice hockey championship and trophy for Western Canada. From 1983 to 2017, the championship was the culmination of the champions of 12 hockey leagues in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario. In 2018, citing costs for travel and accommodations, British Columbia, Alberta and Saskatchewan withdrew from competition for the Keystone Cup, making it a championship between Manitoba and Northwestern Ontario. Murray Craven
Murray Dean Craven (born July 20, 1964) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey centre who played 18 seasons in the National Hockey League between 1982–83 and 1999–2000 and former vice president of the Vegas Golden Knights. Playing career Craven played his junior hockey with his hometown Medicine Hat Tigers, and his success there saw him selected by the Detroit Red Wings with their first-round pick (17th overall) in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. He proceeded to make the Wings' NHL squad out of training camp at age 18, and recorded 4 goals and 11 points in 31 games before being returned to Medicine Hat. He would see 15 more games of NHL action in 1983–84, again splitting the year between Detroit and Medicine Hat. By this time he was dominating the WHL, recording 94 points in just 46 games.
