Md. Moinul Islam Chowdhury is a Judge of the High Court Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court. Early life Chowdhury was born on 7 April 1957. He completed his bachelors in law and another in art from the University of Dhaka. He completed his Masters in History from the University of Dhaka. He completed another law degree from the University of Essex and joined the Lincoln's Inn. Career Chowdhury started his legal practice in 1984 at the Dhaka Court. In 1986, Chowdhury became a lawyer on the High Court Division. Chowdhury started practicing in the Highest court of the country, the Appellate Division of Bangladesh Supreme Court, in 2002. On 30 June 2009, Chowdhury was appointed an additional judge on the High Court Division and on 6 June 2011 his appointed to the Court was made permanent. The High Court Division, Supreme Court of Bangladesh ( bn, হাইকোর্ট ডিভিশন) popularly known as the 'High Court' is one of the two divisions of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh, the other division being the Appellate Division. It consists of the Chief Justice of Bangladesh and the Judges of the High Court Division. The High Court Division exercises both original jurisdiction and appellate jurisdiction in civil and criminal matters. Salim Osman is a Bangladesh Jatiya Party politician and the member of parliament from Narayanganj, the constituency of his deceased elder brother. In his early life, he was selling poultry from home to home. Career In 2014, Osman was elected president of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association. In June 2014, he was elected to parliament from the Narayanganj-5, after the death of the former representative, Nasim Osman, his older brother. On 13 May 2016, Osman publicly shamed the headmaster of a school at Narayanganj's Bandar Upazila for allegedly insulting Islam. The incident was recorded and published on YouTube. Haji Mohammad Salim (born 10 May 1958) is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Dhaka-7 constituency since 2014. Salim was convicted on a corruption case for amassing wealth illegally, filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission in 2007. He began serving his 10-year prison sentence in May 2022. Early life Salim was born on 10 May 1958. He studied up to grade nine. Career Salim was a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) ward councilor. He had left the party and joined Awami League as he had failed to secure their nomination for the 1996 national election. Murder of Nusrat Jahan Rafi refers to the murder of a 19–year-old Bangladeshi female student who was murdered after reporting her sexual assault by her Madrasa principal to authorities. She was from Feni, Bangladesh. She suffered burns covering over 80% of her body. She died 4 days after her assault on 10 April 2019 at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital's burn unit. She recorded a statement identifying some of her attackers while in transit to the hospital. History The principal of Nusrat Rafi's Madrasa, Siraj Ud Doula had given the order to murder her. She had filled a sexual harassment complaint against him. She had been lured to the Madarasa where there was an attempt to convince her to withdraw the complaint. Narayanganj District ( bn, নারায়ণগঞ্জ, Narayoṇgonj) is a district in central Bangladesh which is a part of the Dhaka Division. It is home to the ancient city of Sonargaon and is one of the oldest industrial districts in the country. The district lies on the banks of the Shitalakshya River and the Meghna River.
