Liberal National Party Of Queensland
The Liberal National Party of Queensland (LNP) is a major political party in Queensland, Australia. It was formed in 2008 by a merger of the Queensland divisions of the Liberal Party and the National Party. At a federal level and in most other states, the two parties remain distinct and operate as a Coalition. The LNP is a division of the Liberal Party of Australia, and an affiliate of the National Party of Australia. McDowall is an outer northern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , McDowall had a population of 7,237 people. Geography McDowall is by road from the Brisbane GPO. McDowall is notable for the Raven Street Reserve, which is a bushland area surrounded by urban housing and busy roads. It is part of a long stretch of forest and green areas going from the mountains in the west to the mangrove areas on the coast. It has many species of wildflowers and grass trees (see image below) which when in flower have a long central flowering stem that attracts bees. Trees include weeping myrtle and native blueberry ash (''Elaeocarpus reticulatus'') with creek fauna such as water dragons (''Physignathus lesueurii''), turtles and native fish including the crimson spotted rainbow fish. 2016 Brisbane City Council Election
Elections to Brisbane City Council were held on Saturday, 19 March 2016 to elect a councillor to each of the local government area's 26 wards and the direct election of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. The election resulted in the comprehensive re-election of the Liberal National Party under Graham Quirk as Lord Mayor. The Liberal National's increased their representation by one ward to a total of 19 of 26. The lord mayoral result of 59.3% of the two-party-preferred vote was reduced for Quirk from the 69.5% result at the previous election. The main opposition party, the Labor Party was reduced to just 5 wards; its worst result in over a decade. The Queensland Greens won their first ward in this election. A ward is a local authority area, typically used for electoral purposes. Stafford is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Stafford had a population of 6,561 people. Geography Stafford is predominantly a residential suburb, including some original Queenslander-style homes and a significant number of post-war Queensland Housing Commission homes on quarter-acre blocks built around the 1940s and 1950s. John Goss (politician)
John Nelson Goss (born 1 January 1943) is a former Australian politician. He was the Liberal member for Aspley in the Legislative Assembly of Queensland from 1989 to 2001. Goss was born in Brisbane and attended the Queensland Institute of Technology, receiving a Certificate in Civil Engineering Drafting. He served on Brisbane City Council from 1982 to 1989. He left the council in 1989 to stand for election to the Queensland Parliament, winning Aspley for the Liberal Party. He became the Liberal Party's spokesman for Transport and Administrative Services in February 1990, exchanging Administrative Services for Housing in August.
