Charles McCord (born c. 1942 in Joplin, Missouri) is an American former news anchor and radio personality most notable for his association with ''Imus in the Morning'' for over three decades. Career In his early career, McCord worked as a copy writer for advertisements. He landed work as a radio newsman in 1963 at KICK in Springfield, Missouri, followed by WFAA in Dallas, Texas. This was followed by stints at WWDC and WTOP in Washington, D.C. In December 1971, while a rookie newsman at WNBC in New York City, McCord was assigned to work on ''Imus in the Morning'', the morning show for newcomer Don Imus of WGAR in Cleveland. McCord went on to become the show's newscaster and writer. In 1975, McCord moved to NBC's News and Information Service, a 24-hour radio network, which lasted until 1977. Jim Nance McCord (March 17, 1879 – September 2, 1968) was an American journalist and politician who served as the 40th governor of Tennessee from 1945 to 1949, and was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1943 to 1945. Hugo McCord (1911–2004) was an American preacher and biblical scholar within the Churches of Christ in America. He produced his own translation of the New Testament (and Genesis, Psalms, and Proverbs), titled ''The Everlasting Gospel'', which he affectionately called the Freed-Hardeman Version. McCord attended a number of schools: Freed–Hardeman College (now Freed–Hardeman University), the University of Illinois, the University of Tulsa, the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Howard McCord (November 3, 1932 – November 3, 2022) was an American writer. He was an emeritus professor of English at Bowling Green State University, where he was director of the creative writing program for most of the past quarter-century. Early life McCord was born in El Paso, Texas, and raised there at the family's Joy Ranches in New Mexico. He received his BA from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1957 and his MA from the University of Utah in 1958. Gary Dennis McCord (born May 23, 1948) is an American professional golfer, commentator and author. Early life and career McCord was born in San Gabriel, California, and raised in southern California, graduating from Ramona High School in Riverside. He was a two-time Division II All-American for the UC Riverside Highlanders of the University of California, Riverside. He won the NCAA Division II individual championship in 1970 and turned professional in 1971. McCord played in over 400 PGA Tour events but never won. His best two finishes on the PGA Tour were at the Greater Milwaukee Open, placing second in both 1975 and 1977. During his years on tour, he had two dozen top-10 finishes. Dennis Frederick McCord (July 28, 1952 – February 7, 2005) was a professional ice hockey player who played three games in the National Hockey League for the Vancouver Canucks in 1974. Born in Chatham, Ontario, McCord played his junior hockey for the London Knights and was selected 115th overall in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft by the Vancouver Canucks. A skilled defender, he turned pro the following season and was assigned to the Seattle Totems, Vancouver's top minor-league affiliate. McCord turned in two solid seasons in Seattle, posting totals of 28 and 37 points, and established himself as a solid NHL prospect. At the close of the 1973–74 campaign, McCord was given a three-game callup to Vancouver, which seemed to bode well for the future.
