McCallum Medal
The McCallum Medal (officially called the F. J. McCallum Medal) was an Australian rules football honour awarded from 1947 to 2008 to the fairest and most brilliant player in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) U/17 competition, as judged by field umpires. It was named after Frederick John McCallum, League life member and past Secretary of the Norwood Football Club. From 1939-1941 the award was known as the O'Halloran Medal, named after Thomas Shuldham O'Halloran KC, a former chairman of the League. South Australian National Football League
The South Australian National Football League, or SANFL ( or ''S-A-N-F-L''), is an Australian rules football league based in the Australian state of South Australia. It is also the state's governing body for the sport. Originally formed as the South Australian Football Association on 30 April 1877, the SANFL is the oldest surviving football league of any code in Australia and is the 7th oldest club football league in the world. Consisting of a single division competition, since the admission of the Adelaide Crows AFL Reserves in 2014 the season, has been a 10-team, 18-round home-and-away (regular) season from April to September. Central District Football Club is an Australian rules football club which plays in the South Australian National Football League. Lindsay Thomas (born 29 February 1988) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for North Melbourne and Port Adelaide in the Australian Football League (AFL). AFL career Drafted by the Kangaroos in the fourth round of the 2006 AFL Draft from the Port Adelaide Magpies, Thomas made impressive performance by kicking four goals in his first pre-season game against Collingwood in the NAB Cup at Carrara Oval. Thomas made his AFL debut in Round 1 of the 2007 season, scoring no goals but five behinds in a loss against Collingwood. In 2010 Thomas led North Melbourne's goalkicking with 29 goals which included 7 against Carlton in Round 12. The 2011 season was not a successful season for Thomas. He struggled badly with kicking for goal all year and was at one stage dropped from the senior side because of this. He finished the season with 21 goals and 36 behinds. Ben Eckermann (born 12 March 1987) is an Australian rules football midfielder who played for Port Adelaide in the Australian Football League (AFL) and Sturt in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Adam Cooney (born 30 September 1985) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Western Bulldogs and Essendon Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He won the Brownlow Medal in 2008, with 24 votes becoming the tenth Western Bulldogs player to win the award. Sudjai Cook (born 27 June 1976) is an Australian rules footballer who has played in the Australian Football League for the Adelaide Crows. He also played in the South Australian National Football League. Early life Cook was adopted at 10 weeks old from Thailand and moved to Australia. AFL career Deciding to embark on a career in Australian rules football, he played 7 games for the Norwood Football Club before being rookie listed in 1998 with the Australian Football League club, Adelaide Crows, Adelaide. Troy Bond (born 14 July 1973) is a premiership winning, former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). AFL career Carlton career (1994–1995) Originally from South Australian National Football League (SANFL) club Port Adelaide, Bond started his AFL career at the Carlton Football Club in 1994, where he played 36 games and kicked 26 goals. Andrew Osborn
Andrew Osborn (born 10 October 1972) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the South Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). After beginning his football with local club Reynella, Andrew quickly established himself at South Adelaide in a very competitive U17 team by winning the trophy for the Most Consistent Player in 1988. David Brown (born 29 September 1969) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Adelaide Football Club and Port Adelaide Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Originally from Port Adelaide, Brown was chosen as one of the Adelaide Crows initial recruits for the Crows' first season in the AFL in 1991. After 69 games in six seasons with Adelaide, Brown was recruited by Port Adelaide to be part of its own inaugural AFL squad in 1997.
