Ben Eckermann
Ben Eckermann (born 12 March 1987) is an Australian rules football midfielder who played for Port Adelaide in the Australian Football League (AFL) and Sturt in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Eckermann was selected with the 51st pick in the 2004 AFL Draft and made his AFL debut in Round Seven of the 2005 AFL season. Sturt Football Club
The Sturt Football Club, nicknamed The Double Blues, is a semi-professional Australian rules football club based in the suburb of Unley, South Australia, which plays in the South Australian National Football League. Founded in 1901 by the Sturt Cricket Club, the club initially struggled to make the finals, however, in 1915 they won their first Premiership. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Points are scored by kicking the oval ball between the central goal posts (worth six points), or between a central and outer post (worth one point, otherwise known as a "behind"). The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional competition of Australian rules football. Through the AFL Commission, the AFL also serves as the sport's governing body and is responsible for controlling the laws of the game. 2005 AFL Season
The 2005 AFL season was the 109th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured sixteen clubs, ran from 24 March until 24 September, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs. West Coast Eagles
The West Coast Eagles are a professional Australian rules football club based in Perth, Western Australia. The club was founded in 1986 as one of two expansion teams in the Australian Football League (AFL), then known as the Victorian Football League. The club plays its home games at Perth Stadium and has its headquarters at Lathlain Park. The West Australian Football Commission wholly owns the West Coast Eagles and the Fremantle Football Club, the AFL's other Western Australian team. Tyson Stenglein (born 16 July 1980) is an Australian rules footballer, who played for the Adelaide Crows and the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). Adelaide career Stenglein was originally recruited to the AFL by the Adelaide Crows at pick number 29 in the 1998 draft from the Subiaco Football Club in the West Australian Football League, WAFL, and debuted in his first season (1999) against the West Coast Eagles in round eight at Subiaco Oval in Perth, Western Australia, Perth. After playing four games in his debut season, Stenglein became a regular in the Crows side the next year, playing nearly every game over a four-year period, becoming a highly rated player at the club, and indeed often touted as a potential club captain.
